I had a shower thought recently that you could probably substantially reform the police by making them wear pink tunics that are basically dresses as uniforms
I would like to bring over my theory for solving America’s deadly roads. I call it the “Gay Truck Rule” and it would save thousands of lives every year.

Translators are so cooked, everyone's earnings are cratering. I'm middle aged and starting to feel I have to find a new career somehow. This is the only job I've had.

AI hasn't like solved translation, it's just made corporations accept garbage quality
Facebook is one of the biggest companies on the planet and the Swedish localization has a number of egregrious mistakes. "Viewed by" has been translated as "shown by"

That old New Yorker cartoon about a certain kind of online person not being able to allow someone to be wrong on the internet was prescient. Constant and somewhat preening correction, correct or not, feels like the dominant mode.

Having matured, however, I myself am able to allow others to be wrong

Best song to have on a loop as you work like crazy in the middle of the night
Chic hits #1 today in 1978 with “Le Freak”, a song originally titled “F**k Off!” — and written after the band was turned away by the bouncers at Studio 54.

“We go back to my apartment really pissed off,” said Nile Rodgers, “and Bernard starts singing, ‘Ahhh, f**k off!’ .. and that became the hook.”

If you're wondering why this act of murder seems to be gaining more traction than others it's because politicians and the media decided to make it a big deal. You have to do that from time to time instead of always going "lol fml freal though" 24/7.

Brazil approves the first vaccine against dengue. The disease killed 6000 Brazilians in 2024.

This is a really remarkable achievement. I got dengue in 2015, and even with the mild case I had, it was a really miserable experience.

Ableism is so rife, despite apparent laws to reduce it, that even now there are 12 countries in the EU in which disabled women can be sterilised without their consent, even as teenagers.
This is another iteration of (passive) eugenics.

This makes intuitive sense and is also something that ppl who’ve been pregnant oughta know about
Your doctor may be unaware:

"Experts now believe that pregnancy can offer a window into a woman’s future health, and can provide valuable information about her long-term risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke and other cardiovascular conditions."
