A wee reflection on section 28/2A I wrote for LGBT History Month:
@ddonnelly.bsky.social explores the Legacy of Section 2A and finishes by saying, "We will not allow their identities to become unspeakable again."

It's a fascinating read to get to that conclusion.

The thing about the Linehan case is that either the Judge is sympathetic to 'gender critical' ideology or British law thinks it's perfectly acceptable for a 57 year old man to stalk, doxx and physically attack a 17 year old girl.

Both explanations are horrifying.

Nothing else. No other statement given by anyone. Give them no soundbites or wiggle room.

If Linehan can call that child a sissy, AGP, and misgender her, and be found not guilty of harassment, then I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL to not give a hoot about legal threats from GCs for "libeling" them when you point out that they're nazi-adjacent bigots, funded by the American right. Oh, and nonces.

literally; outside of actually classified narcotics like cocaine and mdma

There is absolutely no medication/drug which is treated anywhere near like this. And this is before we even get to the fact that it's only banned SPECIFICALLY for trans youth.

cis youth? can still get it.

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Strong yes. All too often the law is used as a tool by dark money funded right wing activists to silence those who push back. We employed our defamation lawyer to try and level the playing field.

This brings shame on Glasgow. How do the reasonable parents/carers and teachers at this school explain to the children what these people are doing?

Go and protest at the city chambers if your racism is calling you to action but keep it away from the children.

No matter what the politicians say, this is discrimination. Look at how the regulation is worded: This is not a ban on its use for a particular indication, it's a ban for a population.

What I hate most about this whole thing is that people pretend that THIS discrimination is ok, because trans people make them uncomfortable. As if that wasn't always the reason for all discrimination.

Even Hilary Cass - who disgracefully called parents terrified that their trans kids would take their own lives if they were denied healthcare "shroud wavers" - didn't go so far as to call for a ban on puberty blockers.

Nothing Wes Streeting says turns out to be true.

Just to clarify: we don’t actually know whether Hilary Cass recommended a ban on puberty blockers. The Cass Review itself doesn’t say that. Instead, the DHSC sought “evidence” from three “experts”, including her, which was kept secret.

I think Wes Streeting revealed quite a lot in his tweet.

The stacking of the puberty blocker trial with SEGM-adjacent clinicians, its dreadful design and now Wes Streeting's public admission that its purpose is to collect evidence to *back up* the ban... are all MASSIVE red flags.

Parents of trans kids in the UK are in an impossible bind.
