moved from Boston to LA with deep reluctance for a job. nearly crashed my car several times the first year as i got used to the driving style. but 6 years later having lived in both LB & DTLA proper: "Californian" is a whole *identity*, and LA is the epicentre.
As a born hater from Philly who was appalled at the thought of moving to the shiny shithole by the beach, I am all in on this place. Hollywood and Beverly Hills don't really exist to the people of this town, but that's all they sell on TV to us back east. LA is fucking weird in all the best ways.
