Not only will inflation go up by a lot but the Kiel Institute also projects that US exports will decline by nearly 20% and our production will decrease by about 1.6%. Neither of these are good news but that drop in exports is, to my mind, even more eye-popping than the inflation increase.
The Kiel Institute is on fire – they modelled the impact of Trump’s trade war.
Check out the chart. The numbers come with the usual uncertainty, but they give a good sense of the eye-popping inflation the US is now facing.

Let's just call it and get it over with. The US is out of NATO. And there's no reason for anyone to treat the US as a leader at the G7, G20 or any other institution from now on. The US is just another country at best and a rogue nation at worst.

"Unconstitutional" seems like too mild a term for this.
So, if I’m reading this correctly, Congress appropriated a bunch of funds for specific purposes. Musk will be throwing that out the window and disregarding the law they enacted. But individual legislators can call a hotline and beg for their pet projects to be spared. That’s how we’re doing it now.
Like huh it’s almost as if this information is inconsistent with the government’s representations in court that Amy Gleason, not Musk, is in charge of DOGE, and that agency heads, not DOGE, are responsible for the cuts

I knew this would happen, but it's still surreal to hear another nation's leader talk to us in a televised address the way US presidents have historically spoken to the citizens of countries led by dictators and despots.
Trudeau: "I want to speak first directly to the American people. We don't want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally. We don't want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. As of this morning, markets are down and inflation is set to rise dramatically."
