I'm very much enjoying this book I'm currently reading. It has a young boy with magical powers he knew nothing about, being taken away from his dull life in suburbia after accidentally creating mayhem by casting spells.

DFLers hate to hear this but one of the biggest impediments to progress is the Democratic Party and its true believers.

Example: we *elected* Mary Moriarty to be a progressive county attorney—and she had barely started fulfilling campaign promises when bigwigs in the DFL tried to shut her down.

It is true, by the way.

Laws are, in a sense, national traditions. They only have meaning when practiced as a nation, and it only takes a generation for reverence for the tradition to disappear.
