Those of you who still insist on drawing a distinction between ICE and police should be aware that the police are not drawing that distinction.
Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

i know people want “abolish”, but this would be a massive improvement over the status quo and we can do this and then abolish them later
Reporter: Senator Chris Murphy has a 3-pronged proposal to try to rein in ICE. He wants DHS to obtain a warrant for interior arrests. He wants Border Patrol to stay at the border. And he says DHS officials must wear identification and stay unmasked during enforcement operations.

if only there had been a movement and momentum several years ago to downsize police budgets, clear out the white supremacists and de-militarize local law enforcement
The elephant in the room is that mayors and governors across the country have very good reason to question the loyalty and allegiances of the state and local police forces and that’s one of the impediments to doing anything about the current occupations

It’ll hurt but you should probably read this, given all of the lies being spread about her.
Renee Macklin Good's wife, Becca Good, released a statement and it moved me to sobbing tears:

It’s time for universal childcare. Yesterday, Governor Kathy Hochul and I celebrated our commitment to New Yorkers: you will be able to afford to raise your kids in the city you call home.

The worldview in which I was raised omitted the green circle here. Or, if it existed at all, it was incredibly small or marginal to the core thesis. I found that really looking into the very big and diverse ocean of thought contained in that circle put me increasingly at odds with my old worldview.

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.

This irrefutable evidence didn't come from professional journalists, but from citizens who showed up & recorded what our government would prefer remain unseen.

From Gaza to Minneapolis, this is why video documentation is treated as a threat: it makes their lies and cover-ups far harder to sustain.
Forensic analysis of objective video evidence. This is how you serve readers searching for clarity.

Lotta people get mad at me when I criticize Democratic messaging but THIS IS HOW DEMOCRATS SHOULD BE TALKING. Like normal people using normal language to communicate normal human emotions about the fucked up situation.

THIS.
Q: After you told ICE to get the F out, Republicans are criticizing you for escalating tensions

FREY: I'm sorry if I offered their Disney princess ears, but if we're talking about what's inflammatory, on one hand you got someone who dropped an F bomb & on other you have someone who killed someone

Seriously, read this:

"'Waiting for the facts' means waiting to develop a cover story. It means waiting for story to blow over. It means waiting until 'But that was seven months ago! Get over it!' becomes a legitimate excuse."

Yes you do not and should not have to see that video, but it’s very important we have them because many of our major US news institutions have entrenched an insane dissembling of reality and regurgitation of authoritarian narratives under guise of ‘objectivity’.
the nyt says that no version of events in minneapolis can be "verified independently." but that's not true! there are multiple videos proving that the ICE version of events is a total lie. maybe the nyt can, y'know, watch one of them? www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01...

We should be applauding people who break rules to stop what's happening. Failing to break rules is what's worthy of critique right now. That's the stuff people should have an explanation for — and I know, some do, and that's fine, but the absolute moral minimum is supporting those who resist.

It takes an enormous amount of courage to stand there, keep filming, and scream "What the fuck, you asshole" at someone wearing a badge who just shot and killed one of your neighbors in cold blood.
I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.
