This has been a really fun thread but basically every lawyer uses Office365, it's a huge portion of Microsoft's income, and so any linux future meaningfully has to offer alternatives to these specific rentier empires and not just gaming. Gaming is a good start, but LibreOffice does not cut it.
My lawyer has yelled at me every time I’ve opened a contract with gdocs and fucked up their sections and subsections. It’s cheaper to pay $100/yr than $600/hr for them to fix stuff.

We need to work on the adults first because far too many misogynistic attitudes exist in school adults. And that includes internalised misogyny that women use on other femme people who aren’t “valuable” in this society. The adults have to change first
Teachers to be trained to spot early signs of misogyny in boys
The measure is part of the government's strategy to tackle violence against women and girls which will be unveiled on Thursday.

Maybe more like photographers delight. Here’s sunset last night - as red as they get. And the second photo is from this morning, taken by drone above the low mist covering the landscape.

Academics and technologists are sounding the alarm about a growing crisis in scholarship as we know it: AI-generated citations of nonexistent papers that have infested real journals. Despite being fake, the sources are widely assumed to be authentic the more they appear in published literature.

given how much cheaper touchscreens are than having to tool and manufacture physical switchgear, the safety data must be really bad for automakers to be voluntarily shifting back to real controls
New research finds that car touchscreens are so distracting that they induce "significant performance degradation" among drivers.

Meanwhile, in-vehicle touchscreens remain completely unregulated in the US.

Yesterday, Starmer did something rare. He positively surprised me with the announcement of the inquiry into foreign money into British politics.

Just a few hours later it all turns to shit again and we are back to usual.

Steve Reed, "It will be forward looking, there will be no relitigating of previous elections or referendum"

"There have been no findings that any elections to date were affected by foreign interference"

Unbelievable. This would be a terrible blow to American science, writ large. It would decimate not only climate research, but also the kind of weather, wildfire, and disaster research that has underpinned half a century of progress in prediction, early warning, and increased resilience.
