what replaces due process under fascism is the assurance of protection for favored groups. even though it’s precarious, a lot of people feel just as protected under that framework as they do under one with due process
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

Impossible to overstate how ancient this thinking is. This is the French riding out to battle on horses to find themselves confronted with Nazi tanks. (Almost literally.)
The Senate Democratic Caucus was unified on a ‘clean’ one-month CR that would have kept the government open and given Congress time to negotiate bipartisan legislation. I’m disappointed that our Republican colleagues wouldn’t join us in that effort.

As a person who was recently eight months pregnant, absolutely fuck these nazis. I would feel that way whether he was married at all or regardless of the pregnancy but…. That raw vulnerability just makes this so much more inhumane. I am gutted for all of them.

VERY IMPORTANT: This is just a trick. It's a way for Democratic senator to say they oppose the bill while letting it pass. It's not much of a trick. I mean, everyone will see it. But still this is simply a way of hoodwinking constituents. If they want to vote for it just vote for it.
One more thing: Punchbowl reports that some Democratic senators are considering allowing the CR to proceed to a floor vote, lowering the threshold from 60 to 51 votes. Any such vote is the same as a vote for the CR but with even less integrity. Please encourage your colleagues to be better than this
