The testing ground for Bovino’s Operation At Large was Los Angeles. A California judge initially prohibited ICE/CBP’s most flagrant constitutional violations. SCOTUS overruled her 6–3, handing Bovino a blank check to inflict unspeakable brutality on Chicago and Minneapolis. The 6 bear so much blame.
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

His parents are legal asylum seekers with no criminal record.

A number of responders were quite opposed to the idea of giving ridealongs to The Atlantic (I understand their frustration with the outlet).

But I drove these guys around for two hours and they witnessed abductions, confrontations with the public, tear-gassings.

The lesson: let the world see.
The Atlantic Magazine just dropped a tremendous story on the Minnesota Resistance. The author is a war correspondent & sees the echoes of leaderless community empowerment around the globe: www.theatlantic.com/politics/202... (supposed to be a gift link, might not work, it’s in Apple News, too.)

I know some folks have (perhaps some legitimate) issues with Chicago's Mayor Johnson, but after hearing him (again) today at the rally, he does seem to be a mayor well suited for this particular time.

(e.g., I can't imagine Atlanta's Dickens delivering the same kind of call to resist federal power)

Trump is using his paramilitary force (ICE) to attack blue states and funding it with taxpayer dollars. We are way past the blue states withholding tax revenue to the federal government. They’re using our own money to kill us. Enough.

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.
Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.

Yes. More important, don't fund shiny-object projects from cash that you are dishonestly siphoning from schools & basic services.
Anyone talking of TADs like they're a free gift is lying.
Take $100M+/yr away from APS and either it's a big tax hike or shortchanging kids' education.
Such a great point! Cities are by definition the original TADs… limited geographic regions authorized to collect taxes to fund public improvements. Projects vital to public interest should be paid for and managed through our elected government system - not shady pseudo-governmental corporations.
