the thing about cillizza is that he should probably have enough in the bank at this point to not have to keep doing this, but apparently he thinks there's anyone wants to hear what a silver-spoon guy who went to a boarding school, then georgetown, then sucked so bad that *CNN* fired him, has to say.
tigers are my favorite animal, by far. i had a dream/nightmare literally *last night* that a tiger got in my house (in michigan). it was toying with me while i told my friends and family who were randomly there (because it was a dream), that they had to leave because i was already toast...

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."

RFK JR: There are many other confirmations -- there are two studies that show children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism. It’s highly likely because they are given Tylenol
i bet the "puppy bowl" does better numbers than whatever TPUSA puts on...

If this stuff would end up on the news it would absolutely motivate voters. Plenty of people who don't give a shit about politics would absolutely give af about this.

Self serving nonsense. Andreessen has never demonstrated that he would do anything other than take profits if the cost of production went down. The idea that savings would be passed onto consumers is just another version of trickle down economics.

ANDREESSEN: Even if AI ends up destroying all the jobs, “the result would be hyper-deflation of prices, which is the thing that people miss. .. Things that today cost a lot of money will all of a sudden be cheap or free.”

I’m starting to think they might not have been serious about wanting to stop fentanyl smuggling and child sex trafficking
bgrueskin.bsky.social
“A federal team in El Paso that once pursued child traffickers has been disbanded.

“A task force in Kansas focused on stemming fentanyl has been redirected.

“Highway checkpoints near the border—on roads identified as major drug-trafficking routes—have gone unstaffed”

this is why the epstein shit broke through: it's true crime stuff (complete with documentaries on netflix) that gets talked about on like TMZ.
i don't really find her "cute," but i do think there's something to the fact that she intentionally and seemingly successfully presents herself as if she were some spunky, young intellectual... rather than the calculating, partisan grifter she is. presents as velma, when she's actually more rufo.

We’re not dealing with brilliant strategists cleverly laying traps, we’re dealing with impulsive whiners whose advantage is contempt for laws, norms, and morality.

They’re not pulling some elaborate trick, they’re just willing—even eager—to do things regular, principled people consider off limits.
play musical instrument, if capable.
this. for all the dem leadership/consultants have been trying to focus on it, the GOP has been trying to dismantle the healthcare safety net for as long as i can remember and will continue to even if democracy survives. but that dispute, and all the rest, become moot if democracy fails. priority #1.

As @gregsargent.bsky.social argues, Gov Pritzker, Mayor Johnson, and some Dems are rightly treating Trump’s abuses against American freedom as the biggest issue, taking it on directly, instead of treating it as a “distraction.”

Say no. Call it out. The regime relies on complacency and appeasement.
gregsargent.bsky.social
Pritzker/Newsom see it as a defining fact of the moment that Trump is consolidating authoritarian power daily and using it to subjugate Blue America like an enemy nation within. Other Dems should stop the Beltway-speak about Trump laying "traps" for them and engage.

"haven't yet had the time to dig in and read that"? i know he's pretending ignorance, but... 1) i wish somebody would ask what he's been up to since he sent the house home, in that case, and 2) he's the fucking speaker. he should know how shutdowns work, or at least be curious enough to google it.

Mike Johnson: "Federal workers, it's my understanding that the law is that they would be paid. There is some other legal analysis floating around. I haven't yet had time to dig in and read that."
every once in a while, i'll mix a little olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper in a whiskey glass and drink it like a big shot. i can't really explain why i do this, other than maybe my body subconsciously compelling me because i haven't been consuming enough vinaigrette recently...

big difference between pols who use profanity sometimes if they're candidly talking to a press gaggle or on a podcast or whatever... and doing an ad a whole team of people put together just to prove you're capable of swearing.
yeah, if it's coming from AOC or crockett - or even swalwell or lieu - it comes off as authentic b/c they don't make a big production about it like, "look at me, finally pulling out the big guns by cursing." people can tell when someone has had it and is genuinely pissed vs. what schumer is trying.

There is no sense in which the Enabling Act of 1933 would have become an acceptable piece of legislation if it had included a carve-out requiring Hitler to stabilize out-of-pocket health care costs. Same goes for the Enabling Act of 2025. www.offmessage.net/p/the-end-of...

The difference here is that any "deal" won't be honored by Trump. Rs in Congress already conceded their power to the exec and we know he just deletes or shifts funding that's already been agreed upon. Why on earth would any Dem even bother? Let them figure it out. They have both houses of Congress

Worth noting that there is no "right" answer as to who/what "caused" the shutdown. Sure, Senate Dems could end it by passing the GOP CR. Likewise, House and Senate Republicans could end it by passing the Dem alternative.
jonathanbernstein.bsky.social
A few more weeks of this and the House CR will expire and this will be a House-caused shutdown, not a shutdown by filibuster. Presumably it won't come to that, but ???
good thing trump's stupid trade war collapsed the market for actual goods the U.S. produces.

If U.S. states have any degree of sovereignty, if there’s any states’ rights at all, it is the right not to be invaded by the armed forces of another U.S. state.
