I’m skeptical about that letter Epstein supposedly attempted to send to Larry Nasser, and I’m worried that if it turns out to be fake, it’ll be used to discredit + undermine otherwise credible evidence. Can we all pump the brakes on it until it’s verified by a handwriting expert?

It seems like a lot of people weren’t already following the CECOT coverage … which is … wild. Most of what is in the 60 Minutes report—while well done—was already reported on by ProPublica, NYT, and old regular CBS pre-Bari. Among others. People really weren’t listening???

Everyone in the government that was involved in sending American people to the CECOT concentration camp must go to prison.

Prison. There must be consequences. Starting with Kristi Noem.
Yes, CECOT is a concentration camp in the guise of a prison. The Venezuelans were the first people to *ever* be released from CECOT since Bukele opened the prison in January 2023. Seriously. The first.
These are concentration camps. No other way to describe them. Truly horrific, and none of it surprising in the least.

Sunday sermon:

Pete Hegseth’s “warrior Christianity” is morally bankrupt and fake. It can’t prepare, protect, or heal our troops.

Our troops desperately need chaplains who understand moral injury and PTSD, not TV tough guys sneering at being human.

CBS didn't run the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT, but over here at @propublica.org we've been working on the story since March, including finding out who each and every man sent to that maximum security prison was.

We now have a partially free press in this country. It is true that there is still *vast* room to report negatively about the president. It is also true that some of our most notable news outlets are being muzzled, one by one.

No document will protect you. All they have to do is take it from you and "lose" it; take it from you and say you never gave it to them; claim it's fake ⬇️; make a new rule that you need ANOTHER document. Citizenship is a made-up status that governments decide the rules for. No one is free until all.

Yet, ICE claims her documents are “not authentic” and has held her in immigration detention for days.

At a Coldplay concert in July, Kristin Cabot appeared on the Jumbotron in the arms of her boss. Cabot retreated, trying to make things right with the people who mattered most. Now, for first time since that viral moment, Cabot is sharing her side of the story. trib.al/I8tWdU4

Republicans voting against the felony national trans youth healthcare ban were Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Gabe Evans (CO), Michael Lawler (NY), Mike Kennedy (UT).

Dems voting FOR the felony ban were Henry Cueller (TX), Vincente Gonzalez (TX), Don Davis (NC).

3 NVs on both sides.

With friends like these who needs enemies!
Shockingly, this bill would have failed were it not for the 3 Democrat defections.
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.
