It was proposed as a day 1 right but with an undefined 9 month probation period where a ‘lighter touch’ process would have applied. Good luck litigating that.
Now, it’s 6 months with the same procedure for all which seems far more workable.
This would not be my battle of choice against Labour.

That is their mission. Tory plants posing as journalists
The attacks on Labour from BBC News are now so relentless, day after day, minute after minute, putting headline negativity on absolutely anything they say, or do.

Are they now the official opposition?

He is a Putin puppet
A quick reminder of who Nigel Farage was most concerned about when Putin's tanks first rolled into Ukraine

Good question. Heard anything from them?
Dear Dulwich College, what steps did you take to deter Farage's racism. Why was he not stopped?.

He is a client journalist and cannot hide his bias. Shameful
Bluntly Mason is a twxt. A gossip ‘journalist’ and a disgrace in terms of so called a BBC ‘balance’ - balance equals bias
Chris Mason on the budget this morning, completely negative. Discussing the removal of the two-child limit which is appreciated by most, he found a negative slant "There isn't universal support for it though on the Labour benches", he makes no effort to hide his bias.

That is what decent people are up against. Look how MSM monster, pursue and hate on Labour and target their MPs
The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

Net migration has fallen again to 204,000, the lowest level since 2021 and is forecast to continue falling over the coming years.

Not that you would know it from the endless coverage of Britain's supposed "immigration crisis"

It's such a bizarre framing. Labour MPs think taking 450k kids out of poverty is putting the country first! That's why they wanted it to happen! It's not because they personally benefit.
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

Nigel Farage has spent £1m taking out adverts in the papers to distract from the Nathan Gill Russian bribe scandal.

We can't let him buy himself out of this. We need an investigation into Russian influence in our politics.

“Dear Diary,
People are still being mean about me being a racist at school. I tried saying I was only racist in a nice way, but that didn’t work so I pretended that the 23 witnesses were all making it up. Hopefully that will do the trick…”

Agree. The I is going the way of other Tory rags
You just cannot take the iPaper seriously when it wheels out Kwasi ‘mini budget’ Kwarteng to comment on the budget.
We don’t *ever* want to hear from this arrogant clown again.

Pure propaganda funded by.....
Quick analysis of The Times today:
Wall to wall negative coverage of Labour’s budget. An editorial that tuts about lack of growth but takes no responsibility. And a double page ad to join Farage/Reform.
Absolutely no analysis on how rightwing ideology - including Brexit - has been utterly ruinous.

Client journalists
Sam Coates on Sky News is doing a pretty good impression of a bloke whose puppy has just died.
Questioning whether the OBR forecasts are too favourable for Labour.
Give it a rest, fella

What a great Budget.

A great Labour budget.

Here's the first 3 minutes our of brilliant Chancellor's speech, setting the scene!

Couldn't be happier right now with our Chancellor and our Labour government.

Embarrassing
Utterly juvenile and unparliamentary antics from Kemi Badenoch during her response to the budget.

Desperate, undignified and ineffective.

If Farage had just admitted, apologised and repented his teenage racism - water under the bridge. But the fact that he has denied the truth and maligned those saying it NEARLY FIFTY YEARS ON, indicates to me not only his untrustworthiness, but that these antisemitic beliefs are not so historic

Best budget day for UK gilts since 2006 >>
Deutsche Bank analysts have spotted an interesting fact:
At first glance, the gilt market likes what it heard from the Chancellor today.

'..today marks the largest fall in 10y gilt yields on the day of a UK budget or major fiscal statement since 2006.'

This is going to ring true to this guy’s idiot fan base because it’s largely true. Timing may not make any difference to the allegations but it’s true we are now getting a very late, very isolated bout of Noticing Things that could and should have been noticed many years earlier.

Agree. They trivialise everything they can to put Labour in a bad light. Not honest reporting
On Sky Politics Hub, the whole budget was framed as if somehow the most consequential thing was the OBR accidentally publishing figures an hour early. There are 50 things in there more salient to viewers. I see no way to justify it editorially, other than to construct a hostile narrative. Poor.

Most are straight forward proven by evidence so jury trial not necessary. A waste of time and money
The Labor Party in England is now proposing to get rid of almost all jury trials in England to make the criminal punishment bureaucracy more efficient. This should be a warning for us all. Neoliberals are walking us into the waiting arms of authoritarians.
