Thinking about that Magic Schoolbus episode where Ms Frizzle makes her students live and die full lives as dinosaurs and then spend tens of millions of years as sentient fossils just to learn about continental drift.

Curious why station wagons are the fetish object here because car companies already make station wagons under much stricter emissions rules than the US.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

I don’t know what’s up with this guy’s face when he’s talking but he looks like a real unpleasant asshole.

A lot of well-meaning people simply do not understand that generative AI is poison.
What happens when Indigenous storytelling meets a technology powerful enough to amplify it? @alexandrasamuel.com talks with Sandra Laronde (Red Sky Performance) about how AI, used with intention and ingenuity, can accelerate stories told by Indigenous people, and why that fills her with hope.

A long thread but worth a read.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I made a bot that will post "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," clip by clip, between now and Christmas Eve. That's 12–13 clips daily, 24/7, just so you know what you'd be getting into. (Clips will auto-delete a few days after being posted.) It starts now.

This whole thing is racist, but take particular note of the threat of denaturalization. That's stripping people of their citizenship, and that's the road to mass murder and atrocity.
Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

If you're keeping score this week, Carney is:

* Negotiating backroom deals on pipelines with Alberta and without BC or Indigenous folks.
* Undermining anti-greenwashing laws.
* Making deals with the UAE despite their role in Sudan.
* Cutting funding for infectious disease work in Africa.
