I’m announcing a $20M Series A to raise money to shoot these down.
Private company wants to put up space mirrors that can beam 'full noontime sun' to anywhere on the night side of Earth. I might be OK with preemptive shoot downs of these satellites rather than allow this to become an unregulated real industry

My favourite thing about each new city I visit is standing on the curb in the freezing cold, downloading a new parking app to my phone, entering my license plate and credit card information, then determining the numbered parking location of my vehicle.

So much easier than quarters.

Wait, what?
Who actually likes carrying around a pocket-full of change, just for parking?
Who actually likes pre-paying for parking when you don't know how long you'll be, when with the app you just stop it when you get back to your car and you're only charged for the time you use?

My earnest opinion after years of experience and many interviews in multiple fields, is that any interview longer than an hour is wasting everyone's time, and says more about the anxiety or sadism of the hiring panel than it does about you.

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

any time you're told to use AI at work, turn your work in about half as fast and pepper it with obvious mistakes. if nobody cares, you have less to do, and if they do, you can tell them you'll never use AI at work again

NOW: Massive protest at a Manhattan Home Depot both inside and outside the store.

Protesters are deliberately jamming operations by buying and returning ice scrapers to disrupt business and demand ICE out.

Peaceful. Strategic. Relentless.

I was at the mall tonight and walked by the Olympic Canada jersey everyone is complaining about. Decided to take a look!

Wow. It’s $150, made in Pakistan, and has the look and feel of a Temu shirt. Printed-on stripes, zero stitching, the patch leaf is super thin.

TikTok names Connie Francis's 1962 hit 'Pretty Little Baby' the Top Global Song of 2025. According to a year-end report, the record was used more than 28 million times in posts that racked up more than 68 billion views, including uploads from Nara Smith, Kylie Jenner, and Ariana Greenblatt.

The Reverse Turing Test
If the LLM can generate the output, then the output doesn't matter.

That might be bc it's a waste of time; or it might be that doing the process is the part that matters

this is similar to what I've come to think of as the "reverse turing test"

when people find synthetic text is "good enough" to complete a task (homework, business report, email) it doesn't mean the machine is smart. it means they were asked to produce something that didn't matter

it's diagnostic
So similarly, when we see people who prefer ChatGPT or a similar synthetic text extruding machine as a source of medical information, that means those are people who are under-served in the current system.
