Why am I so unimpressed by these strikes? Israel and the US have failed to target significant elements of Iran's nuclear materials and production infrastructure. RISING LION and MIDNIGHT HAMMER are tactically brilliant, but may turn out to be strategic failures. 🧵 1/17

1/ Here’s the line of questioning I hope the MSM takes when WH officials or R’s come on their shows and insist that POTUS had to launch this strike:

1) Iran wasn’t within weeks of having a nuclear weapon. Netanyahu has been saying this for decades (roll tape).

🧵 I often talk about VDA, Verification, Deliberation, Accountability, as the core functions that make democracy possible. But to understand what’s gone wrong, we need to look at how those functions have changed.

And people ask what’s the big deal if Trump nominees just do what the boss wants?!….
National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard was under oath when she told Congress in March that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon.

But now that Trump claims otherwise as he pushes to join Israel's attack, she says they're "on the same page" and claims the media misconstrued her testimony.
