The third option is getting involved in primary elections so that establishment Dems and ALL Republicans no longer have a seat at the table. To be blunt, there is no other way that we are going to get election reform passed then because they're only interest is their own power.

Every time I see news about capital centralizing more resources in an attempt to squeeze blood from stone I stop and think, because at some point people who can't afford to pay rent are gonna stop paying it and start looking into guerrilla home and garden options... but is that point now, or later?
An update on this story.

It's becoming undeniable that this is coordinated in some fashion. We're approaching what will be a genuine phase shift in Capitalism, likely in the form of an incredible Economic Shock.

They are already building what comes next.

I think it’s a reflection of their own attitudes. Both Biden and they were trying to live in a fantasy where those 4 years were a return to normalcy as opposed to the most urgent moment in American history to preserve what was left of democracy.

Less related but actual good news, the Texas version of the App Store Accountability Act just got blocked. This does not bode well for the federal version.
Texas law restricting kids from app stores blocked
Senate Bill 2420, which would have gone into effect on Jan. 1, likely violates the First Amendment, according to the ruling.

The news about Harlequin translators getting fired en masse?

You should care about that. They're doing it there because they think nobody gives a shit about romance and so it's fine to experiment with it first.

The confusion and conflation of ‘generative ai that is built on stolen artwork’ and ‘machine learning, character behaviour modelling and proc gen’ is intentional on the part of the grifters peddling the former. They benefit from murkiness of classification, because the latter predates their bollocks

the least shocking thing in the epstein files that wont get enough attention. police regularly arrest and charge victims to coerce them into participating, often jailing them in conditions that are worse.
jesus the Palm Beach Police really sought arrest warrants against underage Epstein victims for coming forward and cooperating, and (purported) admitting to crimes, and it caused the victims to become uncooperative with the federal investigation

A lot of people have a hard time accepting the fact that maybe this is just who Noam Chomsky is and what he’s like. I don’t see why not. I’ve heard whispers through the grapevine for a decade. None of this surprises me
I think one of the more pathetically sad things about that Greg Grandin piece about Noam Chomsky is the way it tries to portray Chomsky as a doddering, low-information old man who "didn't even know what Saturday Night Live was" while also trying to uphold the general fiction of his personality cult.

It's why Zuckerberg is probably the most effective right-wing oligarch because you don't think of him first as a right-wing oligarch.
Just as Twitter would have been so much more valuable for the far-right if Elon had been more subtle about turning it into a Nazi bar, the right-wing takeover of CBS News has been so obvious and so clumsily implemented that they've destroyed the organization's credibility in a matter of months.

There's a lot of focus on how the dripping antisemitism on the right has created a useful rupture in various parts of Trump's support, and that's true.

But I really worry that EVEN those on the less hateful side of that split are ignoring how dangerous some of these terrorists are.

This is essentially what happened to Ahmaud Arbery. When white folks don’t want to mind their business, they are incredibly dangerous to Black folks. He’s recording because he knows that man would kill him if not.
Please Google “sundown towns” if you are somehow unfamiliar.
Expect more of these terrifying communities to become all the more dangerous for Black Americans, as Project 2025 policy implementation continues.

No coming back from this. The process is already 50% complete:
