The proper response to this is "fuck you, old man" and while we won't see that on TV because he surrounds himself with sycophants, more and more people are getting more and more fed up with his shit. We are going to overcome and win.
Days after Donald Trump hosts MBS, he says Democratic veterans in Congress urging US service members to not obey illegal orders are engaging in seditious behavior "punishable by DEATH!"

Good: SIL and her kids are moving out next month. Found a place, found someone to pay for it, we finally get our space back, peace and quiet, and much less stress.

Bad: her partner is sticking around for at least another week and change. Their fights have been getting worse. Louder and longer. 1/

The business community and our local legacy media have a role to play in hyping up Seattle's World Cup matches after spending the past five years calling this city an unsafe craphole in order to install anti-tax politicians and drive up viewer engagement, respectively.
I don’t think FIFA would move the World Cup from Seattle. Trump is full of bluster. But this isn’t on Katie Wilson to address. It’s on Seattle’s business community, which needs to stop falsely claiming Seattle isn’t safe if they want to protect their potential profits. More here:

She leaves as she served, picking weird little fights.
The tenuous decorum between Bruce Harrell’s office and Sara Nelson is evaporating, as Nelson goes after Harrell’s political consultant with new proposed legislation. Harrell’s team and consultant Christian Sinderman call it a misguided priority by a sore loser

I was trying to think if there is anyone that I admire who would truly disappoint me if they showed up in the files, and all I could come up with was Weird Al, so here's hoping Weird Al is not in the files.

(I just assume all other prominent men are probably scumbags in some way)
I want to lay down a few markers here for folks as the clock starts ticking down to the release of the Epstein Files.

1) You are going to learn about a lot more disgusting and sickening things people said, joked about and maybe even did. You will likely be disappointed in someone you had admired

My go-to example of why this is faulty is always Lance Armstrong: healthy world class athlete who, through no fault of his own, was suddenly stricken with cancer from his brain down to his balls at a young age. Poor health can happen to anyone, at anytime.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

Might get shit for this, but it's true. The fries are too greasy, the burgers are bone dry, and the ownership has a bizarre attachment to far-right politics, but I will house a bag of Dick's in a heartbeat any day of the week, especially after a late night out.

Another one of the opportunistic grifters setting the stage to jump ship.

It's not about whether or not they actually believe any of this. It's about realizing that the horse they bet on isn't going to win the race. Same thing happening with MTG and Ted Cruz.

THIS nugget: "the department’s overtime policies continue to be an issue, Brown admitted, as officers can choose to make more working overtime at a stadium event over working a standard shift."

As many of have suspected, they're picking the easy work over more meaningful but difficult work.

Where are the learning loss people? It’s hard to learn at school if you’re afraid to go because the secret police might kidnap you.
Charlotte-Mecklebburg Schools, according to reports, saw 15% of its students absent today amid Border Patrol operations in Charlotte. If that percentage of 15% happens Tuesday in Wake County due to the Border Patrol coming to Raleigh, 24.000 students could be absent from school. #nced #ncpol #wcpss

The reason why socialism is no longer taboo in America is that our elites have successfully rebranded it as “any attempt by the state to function beyond semi-random violence“ while trying to combat it.

Dead Guy Ale was a really great longtime craft beer staple and Rogue ran a really good brewpub as far as those things go. Sucks to see ‘em go down like this.

Rogue Brewery abruptly ceased operations at all of its facilities Friday morning. Employees learned about the closure that same morning. The company operates pubs in Astoria, Newport, Portland and Salem.

So far, the election of Mayor Wilson has been an excellent demonstration of how institutional Democrats and their wealthy donors try to discredit the real concerns of their voters. It's telling that all their attacks (not a career politician, no car) reveal a deep contempt for their base.

I don't know who the "ew, she got childcare help from parents" attack is supposed to impress, but it definitely did not impress the voting parents of Seattle, so many of whom (us included) got some kind of assistance from parents so we didn't get priced out of the damn city.
You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.

I have had similar conversations. A lot of city staffers are absolutely relieved that Harrell lost and Wilson won. They believe the incoming mayor is reasonable and sensible and will help them do good work for the public.
I've talked to a couple City of Seattle employees now who are beyond relieved with the election results, if only because they'll hopefully get to interact with a more functional executive branch now
