Thread by @jmetr22b.bsky.social with a pretty bleak courtroom story: a man accused of putting a hit on Greg Bovino withdrew his pretrial release motion today, after the possibility was raised that were he released, ICE might grab him.

A court entry today confirms the release motion's withdrawl.

Idk if I'm right. Here's what I think I'm seeing:

Police are using her lawn as a staging area. She wants them off. The say she's obstructing them and they'll arrest her. She keeps repeating that it's her property and she won't let them on it without a warrant.

They stay!

NEW: ICE has torn up its $180M cap on a proposed immigrant-tracking program and is now guaranteeing private surveillance firms at least $7.5M each, with potential payouts reaching $281M per vendor. The change signals a shift from “pilot” to full-scale outsourcing of street-level investigative work.

Hopefully, someone buys him a dictionary for Christmas!

a lot of interesting tidbits in this story about rep. lauren underwood’s visit to the broadview ice jail.

as always, take everything dhs says with a grain of salt. but it sounds like the feds’ terror in chicago is far from over.

the training facility element is what’s really haunted me from this story - that means the rawest of agents with zero experience are the ones who are going to be here and we can all imagine the kind of people ready to join up this organization in this moment.

Since Bovino left it seems every day or every other day I hear of someone abducted by ICE agents. It’s slower, less flashy, but still happening.
