If you see me on here it's probably because I'm avoiding homework. But also I like a lot of things and to talk about them.
My confirmation bias says: Colorado Democrats are only in it for themselves. And oh look... that seems to be a majority issue
Heather's pro tip for the day: if you drive like an asshole, probably don't put your organization's bumper sticker on your car. There's a Colorado Democrat driving around proud that they want to bury themselves in other people's tailpipe.

Are we ready to have a discussion about how society keeps pushing us not to grieve and white supremacy are connected?

So the Jesus and John Wayne lady should write a follow up called Jesus and Jimmy Kimmel. Also, I think this is one of the few times we can say, we need to put the Christ back in Christmas. That is all.
And that suburban Boston parish should tell ICE’s acting director to fuck off.

Someone just asked me if I know of any resources in Spanish for basic generative AI literacy/ethics -- e.g., what it is, how to spot it, what the limitations are. They want to help educate their family about AI but aren't sure how best to explain it. Anyone know of anything I could point them to?

@senadorajulie.bsky.social I think it's great you're going after the senate primary against John but FFS I've had to hit stop on THREE fundraising campaigns from you in less than 3 days via Act Blue. Please review your campaigns, if I get another one I'll send a report.

this might be helpful in illustrating the difference between looking at buying subscriptions as “buying content” vs. seeing it as “investing in writers” or even “building new media orgs to last”
Running any media organization is expensive, especially when we pay freelancers industry-standard rates. We were running at a loss until our subscription drive in October, and we're looking at around $33,000 in expenses for 2025.

That is before we pay ourselves.
Yes, it is paywalled! And every time y'all point this out, we will reiterate that writers and artists deserve to be paid for their work. We are an independent publication run and owned by workers. Also A LOT OF OUR CONTENT IS FREE.

Plus, you can read single articles for $2. Including this one.

One of the particularly nasty components of growing up a white evangelical in the US is that we've been divided from church history in that we can barely recite the events in Acts much less tell you why and when our particular denomination exists. Yes that's a feature but also it leads to this:
That why you cannot be broadbrushing Christianity as the colonizer's evil, even if it spread through colonialism. You can't take away the agency of Black Christians experiencing authentic spirituality using Christian modes like they're all brainwashed & colonized. That's infantilizing of us.
the Black church is what it is--and completely separate from ✌🏾standard✌🏾 christianity--because of african traditional and diasporic spirituality

My answers:

My afternoon was basically today me doing a big solid for future me. I'm gonna be so thankful for me in the upcoming weeks. This solves two problems for me: produce waste and that it's so much easier for me to cook more often if the elements are already prepped/cooked. I'm happy to share more!

Wasn't the 1970s station wagon run on leaded fuel? Are we going back to leaded fuel?
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

Finished the series tonight and watched Beyonce Bowl for good measure. Five stars. Especially if you enjoy some good history learning with a side of brilliant fashion and Jordan Peele's filmmaking sensibilities. One of the better doc series I've seen.
We just caught the first episode of High Horse tonight. We will also be catching the second episode. More people should be talking about it and watching it. So go ye therefore and watch and then talk!
Here's video of my discussion on CNN about High Horse, the new Peacock docuseries from Jordan Peele, which explores systemic oppression of people of color through U.S. history by asking a simple question: Why don't we know more about Black cowboys? WATCH: https://loom.ly/KbUdJfY

He is correct about this

If your ideas require compulsory viewing just to get people to look at them, they demonstrably are unfit to survive in a free marketplace of thought.
The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"
