I said awhile ago that it strongly seemed like the Adams admin gave press cards to all the far-right nutjobs to weaken the efficacy of them to justify revoking cards for indies like me.

Wouldn’t ya know,

Western Massachusetts friends, there is a cluster of pertussis cases in the Northampton school. If you have been thinking you need a booster (many of us in our 50s do), now is the time. You don’t need to be tested to see if immunity has waned—you can just get one at CVS, etc.

A reminder that this all started in federal court in Chicago with a case that revealed numerous ICE/CBP/DHS lies about the Chicago enforcement effort. That case also relied heavily on videos of ICE encounters recorded by vigilant citizens and fearless reporters. So keep documenting, folks!
BREAKING: The Supreme Court rejects the Trump administration’s request to deploy National Guard troops in Illinois at this time, over the dissenting votes of Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch.

The new turnstiles are emergency evacuation nightmares waiting to happen, and extremely cumbersome for disabled, elderly, folks with small children, and ultimately everyone. Give a call to fight back against spending on these new turnstiles.

Had dinner with college friends last week and mentioned that some recent decisions I made was because there’s a realistic future where my dept or whole university gets closed. They were shocked. Normal folks don’t realize how bad it’s gotten, especially for folks at small public universities.

youtube removed it, but
here's the 60 minutes cecot video part 1 of 5 - recorded/uploaded by and all credit to @jasonparis.bsky.social

I just reduced background noise, chopped the 14 minutes into 3 minute segments each compressed under 100 mb for bsky's limits, cropped and rotated a few degrees for easier viewing on here

This week marks my wife Meg & our dear friend Joyce’s sixth “kidney-versary.” In December 2019 (with the pandemic just a few short months away, unbeknownst to us at the time, of course), Meg donated one of her kidneys to Joyce at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

By the way, PBS SoCal lost all of its federal funding this year.

There's TONS of really amazing programming and you can get unlimited streaming on the PBS app on any Roku/Apple/etc device for literally $5/month. I've been binge-watching Frontline over the holiday.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.
