My pet hypothesis for which I have no proof is that the reason everything is hot or spicy now is because so many people have permanently damaged senses of smell and taste from COVID that food has to have a tactile sensory component (in this case, light burning) for it to seem flavorful

"No fucking AI assets" - a reminder that many good publishers that will disqualify any prototype with genAI placeholders, and that using it is at your own peril. Hooded Horse happens to be one of the best publishers out there at the moment, so this is a big one.

Exclusive: I obtained testimony from the Dec. trial where Jonathan Ross, the ICE officer who killed Renee Good in Minneapolis, describes an incident in June where he smashed a car window, is dragged 100 yards, and tased a Guatemalan man 10 times.

"I feared for my life," he said.
ICE officer who killed Minneapolis woman said he 'feared for his life' while arresting another driver last year
In courtroom testimony obtained by MS NOW, Jonathan Ross said he was dragged more than 100 yards by car during a traffic stop.

tip for parent management: my parents were asking me about chatGPT, and have some friends who love it, and none of my attempts to caution them were as successful as just sending them the Wikipedia page for AI hallucinations

running for office is fun because you learn cool stuff about yourself like how your boyfriend who runs a comedy website is a billionaire and you don’t actually live in rogers park despite living in rogers park and your mom is an oil baroness or something and

Honestly, I’d say Wernher von Braun is roughly comparable to Elon Musk. Both were capitalists who were part of the fascist political machine, built rockets, made money off the backs of fascism while benefiting from fascist stripping back of labor protections-concentration camp labor in Brauns case.

I'll be honest, I'm just never going to forgive anyone for not speaking up about Palestine but suddenly finding the remnants of a moral compass for one murder by the same fascism in their own lands. I'll tolerate them, I'll work with them, but it'll always remain a thing I'll think about them.

before murdering renee good, the ice goon was frightened for his life, we’re told

It’s meant to justify the murder

nobody telling us this ever seems to wonder whether the woman who was murdered might have been afraid for her life

killing because you’re afraid is only for cops, it seems

Neem makes a good point!

I think there's a difference between sustained policing ops and these brutal but temporary raid-style occupations. Different strategies are required for each.

I get to focus on the sustained ops side thru my work @distributeaid.org, so thoughts on that below 👇
is this true? sure they can't literally occupy every city with the Bovino CBP horde but there's still background kidnappings going on all around the country. i think a lot of people don't realize they essentially have free reign in red states
They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time.

Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief.

Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time.

Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

When it collapses it will seem sudden, all at once. But if something doesn't change soon this regime is finished. Keep striking, keep fighting, keep pushing where you can, keep building resilience and mutual aid, keep caring for one another and building the world you want to live in.

They are extremely unpopular, unable to significantly expand their forces (they are already poaching local police for ICE and reassigning significant percentages of FBI/ATF toward enforcement), lacking in organizational resilience and one bum ticker/blood clot away from total movement collapse

ICE killed a Black man, Keith Porter, 7 days before Renee Good, and I hadn't heard about it until today. His vigils went unnoticed. His life came and gone and America forgot to blink.

Two Americas.

This isn't a series of independent zero-sum games.

We don't need to win every battle. We do need to exact a price every time they raid our communities.

Reduce harm as much as you can. Make sure they leave more weary than they came.

Trust that comrades in other cities will pick up the baton.

I've seen refugee aid efforts defeat multi-year occupations by regional / national police forces who deployed 30x the amount of resources. Hell I've been part of that.

It is *very* possible.

ICE's budget has a limit.
Make them use it.

ICE's morale has a limit.
Make them lose it.

actually it took them ~150 years. their opening move was to bring reconstruction to an end prematurely. despite numerous setbacks along the way they are finally at their endgame
It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic.

When the fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.

reconstruction was the path of atonement and bettering and we chose to turn around and not walk it to its end. so the rot persists, and so we never established any sort of legacy of actively and seriously cleansing the rot to lean on as it regrew
