This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

Democrats would be crazy not to make this comment super-famous tomorrow when the Senate debates health care. Republicans don’t want you to be cared for as a patient when you’re sick. They think of you as a “consumer”—and tough luck if you don’t have the money for the care you need.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

We can’t let them get away with this. Miller and the other architects of this sadism need to go to prison.

Old Soviet joke for today:

A man walks into a newsstand every day, looks around, and leaves.

After a long time of this, the owner says “Can I help you find something?”

“I’m looking for the obituaries.”

“The obituaries are in the back of the newspaper, comrade.”

“Not the one I’m looking for.”

This doesn’t even do it justice. Watch to see the passion from Ardron and Olmstead - both wanted it so badly (no knock on the rest; they are the returnees from France).
Nothing quite captures what damage Kingsley Jones was doing to Canada Men than their best player, who refused to play for the team under him, coming back and instantly scoring 4 tries to create their biggest result in years.
Tyler 4rdron.

After mountains of pressure, and a few penalties, Ardron gets over for their 4th try of the game, and the bonus point.

Nelson converts.

An I the only person alarmed that the U.S. military thinks a “show of presence” of heavily armed soldiers in a park in Los Angeles where kids play soccer is just fine and dandy?
Military documents confirm that the LA operation today was a “show of presence” intended to send a message to LA residents about the power of the federal government.

After staging with armed soldiers and Border Patrol agents on horse, they packed up and left after a short walk.

our constitutional order looks like.
The apparent 7-2 vote — with Kagan joining the Republican appointees on the procedural question of the district court's power — is appalling abdication of its role in our constitutional republic.

The short of it is seven justices said Trump can send these 8 people to South Sudan with no process.
