Covid isn’t “back”, it never left

Those of us who are covid competent have been screaming about clean air & respirators for years because we’re in the midst of a mass disabling event

Media & government have been complicit in minimizing it

If they’re mentioning masks, it’s bad

one particularly damning graph of tech company energy use from the excellent @ketanjoshi.co blog post below

Also note that e.g. Amazon has stopped publishing estimates of their energy use as of the last two years. I wonder why? 🙄

We have allowed a multi system vascular virus to spread unchecked for nearly 6 years.

Public health has failed to advise folks of the risk to long term health, or of the fact that there’s no such thing as “mild” COVID.

Yet doctors blame sudden rise in young stroke patients on everything BUT Covid
Why so many people are having strokes in their 20s, 30s and 40s: ‘We’ve never had patients so young’
Dr. Mohammad Anadani has shared some intriguing theories on what’s behind the alarming trend of healthy, 20-somethings having strokes.

The story of Alma Bowman, a disabled woman and US citizen detained by ICE, keeps getting worse

She’s been in the country for 50 years. They took her wheelchair, denied her medications & threw her in a detention facility in Georgia

Did you know she was a whistle blower against forced sterilization?

When someone says to me they don’t know anyone with long covid, what I hear is “I ditched the people I knew with long covid”
I'm sorry but if by 2025, you don't know anyone with Long COVID, perhaps a) you need more friends or b) you may not be a safe person to disclose things to?

If you use AI you’re accelerating climate crisis, polluting deprived communities, burning through water, giving bosses excuses to reduce workers rights and wages. It’s a moral and ethical degradation.

A researcher calculates that, without increased production, AI will consume up to 82 terrawatt-hours of electricity this year—around the same as the annual electricity consumption of Switzerland.
AI Is Eating Data Center Power Demand—and It’s Only Getting Worse
A new analysis of AI hardware being produced and how it is being used attempts to estimate the vast amount of electricity being consumed by AI.

And while he was talking about dead Palestinian children the camera panned to the Israeli ambassador, who was yawning.

Covid vaccines will be restricted to those over 65 or with preconditions

Pregnant women, one of the highest risk groups for Covid complications, are restricted.

Wear a well fitted respirator. Long Covid is debilitating. There’s no cure. And there’s way more people suffering that you might realize

We're all pretty used to the idea that our phones are listening to us, that algos know our preferences, and that ad companies have a very good idea of who we are and what we like

Right now, they mostly use this to sell us stuff. We are on the cusp of them using it to do something very different
