Too often we think of Trump's budget cuts independently: Medicare cuts, university research cuts, SNAP cuts. But in a poor city like Philadelphia, oftentimes these cuts all affect the same vulnerable population.

Tom McGrath with a look at the mess we're in, and how we can maybe work our way out.
Trump’s Cuts Are Hitting Philly Hard. Can the City Hold On?
Why we are uniquely vulnerable to the president's economic rampage ... and how Philadelphia can (maybe) fortify itself for the future.

I cannot overemphasize that Marjorie Taylor Greene, Carlson, and Fuentes see a 2028 path to victory that involves building an isolationist populist coalition that traffics heavily in antisemitism and exploits existing negative sentiment against Israel.

We have to be SHARP on the left right now.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)

Oil is the most Lovecraftian thing that actually exists.

You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man, but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?

regrettably if you try to point this out online you'll get yelled out by 79208 journalists going OH SO YOU WANT JOURNALISTS TO STARVE??? even if you're, say, a journalist yourself, and point out that while there are clearly no easy answers, the status quo isn't exactly working for society

Where are all the corporate media headlines demanding his resignation? Where are the all the assumptions that about specialists visiting the White House meaning the president is dying? They did this daily with Biden. Why not now? Are they covering for their cash cow? Are they paid to cover it up?
Is Trump's Declining Health Driving the MAGA Rush to Autocracy?

Donald Trump is an aging, criminal vulgarian with cankles and a troublesome wound he's trying to hide on his right forehand. The MAGA ramp-up on fascism could be a sign their King is ailing.

this is the level of funding where all the possibilities for American politics that have been described as hyperbolic over the past decades - the comparisons to Nazi Germany and other nightmares of the 20th century - become logistically possible and politically likely
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

Trump promised to build concentration camps when he campaigned last year, and the media largely ignored it or acted as though that was an overreaction, and a lot of voters were willfully ignorant of anything he actually said.

And he's building concentration camps.

Not enough people realize that Merrick Garland let an entire network of White Power groups that literally built Timothy McVeigh's bomb off the hook because he had the one guy that was easy to convict because he admitted to the bombing. They are still out there plotting. Garland made sure of that.
I mean, Merrick Garland went for a quick and dirty conviction of Tim McVeigh after OKC so he could score a win, while letting the people that literally built the bomb go free forever. Entire networks of White Power groups that blew up OKC were never looked at because he wanted a quick win.
