Today's update: We have raised $3,638 of our current $4,200 goal! We have distributed $3,549 of that amount to families we're working with and some smaller contributions to folks in need trying to make rent and stay housed. We've got $90 that hasn't been distributed at this time.

Bsky settings do not carry over between app and browser and other browser on the other device and ... so go to all of them and make sure you're safe.
Really, really recommend that Minnesotans in particular disable autoplay, I know it's annoying to have to click to see a GIF but it's not worth the mental health costs of seeing the first seconds (before you scroll by) of murders in our city over and over and over.
to turn off autoplaying video on the bluesky mobile app

select the icon in the top left corner

go to settings

go to content and media

make sure "autoplay videos and gifs" is toggled off

the best piece of advice i got when i started at code for america and had to go through media training: never say anything, not even in a group chat, that you wouldn’t want on the front page of the NYT.
You don’t have to listen to me. You can go right ahead being paranoid if you want. But I’ve been doing this work for decades and I’ve seen a lot of shit, and I can tell you exactly why that safety measure you’re proposing will fail. Assuming what you say is public and acting accordingly will not

Protests happen, but most of what is happening in Minneapolis isn’t protesting.

More accurate terms:
- observers
- witnesses
- volunteers
- neighbors
- residents
- people
One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

you can help by calling @governorwalz.mn.gov's office at (651) 201-3400 and asking ‬for a rent moratorium now, which has been unanimously supported by the city councils of both minneapolis & saint paul
Minnesota is on track to see a record high of 25,000 eviction filings in 2025, up 30% compared to pre-2020.

As ICE terrorizes our communities, many of our neighbors are unable to work. Customers are staying home. Child care centers are closing, forcing parents to stay home.

Eviction filings may reach statewide record in 2025
Some 23,000-25,000 eviction cases were filed in 2025, well above the pre-pandemic average of 15,000.

we're gonna continue raising aid, venmo donations especially help us get funds to folks quickly, but i'm gonna start looking into setting up a chuffed page too
Good morning, community. We are checking in to share with much gratitude that our fund is at $2549 of our current $4200 goal.

We have no plans to stop coordinating mutual aid for community , and are closely with others on rent needs as the end of the month draws near. Thank you all so much 💗

I spent some time this morning at the memorial where Alex Pretti was killed by ICE, before going to Lakewood to visit my daughter’s grave. (She was the beneficiary of many amazing ICU, ED, and oncology nurses in her day so it felt fitting.)

It was that kind of morning 💔

As we grieve for Alex Pretti and Renee Good in MN, please do not forget Victor Manuel Diaz, who died in ICE custody after being taken from here. And all others who have died in their custody.
36-year-old Nicaraguan national Victor Manuel Diaz died in ICE custody on Jan. 14 at Camp East Montana in El Paso.

The Texas Nicaraguan Community on FB reports that his mom last heard from him on Jan. 6, when he told her he was planning to go to Minneapolis to start work in a restaurant. 1/3
