This story has really inspired me to also be Kate Winslet's son.
Armed with only a brilliant script, even a young inexperienced screenwriter can get their work produced by a huge studio.

You just have to WANT it hard enough. Reach for the stars, budding writers!💫

Today is the birthday of artist and writer Sam Glanzman (Dec. 5, 1924-July 12, 2017). A veteran of the Navy, he is most remembered for his work on war comics, which included an autobiographical series about his service aboard the USS Stevens during WWII.

This is one of my fav episodes of a fav podcast.
It's World AIDS day. Back in June, we covered the early history of plays about the disease, as theater was one of the earliest venues to address the growing epidemic in American gay communities.

The arrival of one of the first great prose stylists in mainstream American comics.
I will post this every single time I think about it, because it's the best opening to a superhero comic ever.

This explains so much lol
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

Living through a million+ people suddenly dying of Covid...seeing artists and writers I admire get knocked down by it. I can never go back to the time of casually getting sick and spreading illness to others...I am permanently altered

One of the root causes of complex PTSD is experiencing a horrible series of events over time and not having anyone validate it, or indeed deny it was important. It’s almost impossible to integrate a traumatic experience without your social groups accepting that it occurred and that it mattered.
sometimes it will just hit me that over a million americans died from covid in a short period of time and we never had a national mourning. we never collectively grieved. we never honored the dead. this feels like a failure

My most strongly held comics opinion (I hesitate to say "opinion," because it's a fact): lettering should be the first finished thing done, not the last. Done after (or along with) roughs and finalized before pencils. Pencils and inking should be done AROUND the lettering.

Senators on the brink of retirement who lived full, wealthy lives and never feared the loss of their own healthcare voting for their constituents to die from their inability to afford the same is treasonous

They got cute and used Senators not up for re-election next year or ones that were retiring for the surrender vote.

So here's the metric we use instead:

If you aren't pushing for a new Democratic leader in the Senate *immediately,* you're out on your ass.
