If we can only have art from people who "aren't in it for the money" that means we can only have art from privileged middle-class dilettantes. Making art being a viable career is responsible for nearly all worthwhile art, and if it's not a viable career any more we will get drastically less of it.

In a very real sense, this public airing of a longstanding beef between the Born family and Einstein, might be regarded as the first physics diss track. (6/6)

Max Born’s other great cultural contribution, besides the probabilistic interpretation of quantum mechanics, is his granddaughter Olivia Newton-John.

You can see the family resemblance. (4/n)

By 2040, ~40% of the images from Hubble Space Telescope, and more than 96% from new and future space telescopes like SPHEREx, ARRAKIHS, and Xuntian will be contaminated by internet satellite constellations.

That executives still haven't figured this out is a testament to the Peter Principle
Gen Z is spending more on essentials than previous generations, yet their wages aren't keeping up.

It's no wonder they aren't "spending like retailers need them to."

When 70% of the economy depends on consumer spending, people need money to spend. It's as simple as that.

"We're doing hard stem here people. Math, graphics cards, that sort of thing.

Yes, our foundation model is vulnerable to esoteric incantations. Yes, the autopoeitic training doc that both creates and binds it seems to be resurfaced of it's own accord

That still doesn't mean we're doing spells!"

1/2 Considering the success of my article in Spanish, I’ve translated it to English: “When software becomes fast food”

AI commoditizes code. So the bottleneck shifts and intensifies elsewhere (CI/CD, architecture, taste, judgment, etc.).

It’s both crazy and depressing that the first truly online president we ever had ended up being of the ‘crazy uncle who reposts any racist shitstained meme that he stumbles across’ variety.
Trump has posted to Truth Social at least 75 times and counting in the past hour.

It’s weirdo garbage produced by random people on X and TikTok across a number of topics, like conspiracy theories about Ilhan Omar and influencers who claim “communists” are attempting a color revolution in the U.S.

Let me add to this thread that the more modern LLMs are not nearly as susceptible to misspellings as that example, but that doesn't fix the underlying problem; it just makes the hacker's job a bit harder. LLMs are nondeterministic. Nondeterministic systems cannot be secured.
