I can't stress enough lovelies that if you have the spoons and time, learning to cook can be one of the best things you can do for yourself if you never did. A lot of people grew up without any family culinary teaching and it leaves a gap that can be SO helpful to fill.

When I tell a story I’m saying “Here, everything that I am in some way lead up to making this. This is a piece of me that you can choose to carry with you.” Real art always has that.

We huddle on this spinning rock with a million things separating us. The arts tear down some part of that separation great or small. Their ideas may be grand or may be very small, but if you make art then for a moment your living mind and mine connect in some way.

Unfortunately, no.

With crypto, there were tons of consumer graphics cards because those were what was being used for mining.

With "AI," the glut is in server GPUs and RAM, which isn't the kind of thing you can just plug into your home PC.

Most of it will be junk and we'll still have a shortage.
yeah but when the bubble bursts stuff is gonn be CHEAP

I know it's not the biggest deal, but the fucking indignity of having to scrape around for five year old parts just to cobble together a single working gaming PC for the sake of a blatant financial scam is irritating as fuck.

If capitalism doesn't exist to provide for our needs and wants, fuck it.

I know there's a lot of other massive problems with "AI," but as a techie and a PC builder I am GODDAMNED FUCKING SICK of some stupid hype bubble designed to fleece investors and nothing else ruining my hobby.

Your crypto shit took all the video cards. Your "AI" took GPUs *and* RAM.

Fuck you all.

This is exactly what the bosses who put Trump into office were trying to achieve. Crushing the tight labor market from the early Biden years that gave workers - for the first time in my adult lifetime - leverage over their bosses.
NEW

US labor market flows remained sluggish in October data released this morning, as hiring slowed to nearly the lowest level since early COVID

The hiring rate fell to 3.2%, layoffs rose to 1.2%, quits fell to 1.8%, and job openings rose to 4.6%

I put up a Reddit personal ad looking for something specific and I cannot believe the number of people who have sent me ChatGPT-generated responses

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised but yeesh. Stop outsourcing your caring, vulnerability, & intimacy to a robot! It feels GROSS!!!

Glad to see people talking about Penn Jillette. The 2024 interview was done by me. I found him to be a refreshingly reflective, self-critical individual who has remained curious and willing to evolve.
