It’s possible that they didn’t think of this and also possible that they did and want it to happen or don’t care. The one foreign policy issue these people claimed to care about was communist China but they have essentially given up — it’s all too hard for them.
so a thing just occurred to me. a downside of declaring a blockade against venezuela is it makes it easier for other large powers in different parts of the world, say asia, to blockade, say for instance democratic islands, and cloak it as lawful

On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

One country's military seizing ships of another country on the high sea by definition is not piracy, since under international law this is narrowly defined as seizure of vessels by non-state actors. In all other aspects there is no difference though.
