If Trump and the Republicans invade Venezuela, it means America has invaded Venezuela. How did we feel about those Germans that didn’t want Hitler to invade Poland? Remember them? No— as the world saw it, it was Germany that invaded Poland, and it will be America that invades Venezuela.

There’s a reason Caesar was forbidden to cross the Rubicon and return to Rome with his army. It’s what separates a relatively free society from a fascist one.
Pirro: "These Guardsmen and all who are here to protect the District are the line that separates a civilized society from a barbaric one."

grease floats.

when it flows in sewage and into our plants, it thickens as temps fall, separating in our settling tanks.

the churning water forms grease globs that build like snowballs, and operators remove them so they don’t clog the process.

listen. don’t pour grease down your drains.

The big “why do you hate AI?” Thread got comments and quotes turned off, but here’s the main reason I hate AI:

It’s being developed by the worst people on the planet solely to enrich themselves at the expense and labor of the world’s vulnerable populations. Everything else stems from that

She may be counting on a Pardon, but I think it is going to be on us not to honor Pardons from a criminal Administration.
The first official confirmation that Noem herself made the decision not to turn the planes around. A couple hundred men were tortured as a result — and soon after, the Supreme Court confirmed that the Trump admin’s Alien Enemies Act process was a total violation of due process.
BREAKING:

“After receiving that legal advice, Secretary Noem directed that the AEA detainees who had been removed from the United States before the Court’s order could be transferred to the custody of El Salvador. “

This dovetails nicely with my talking about how Billionaires are where money goes to die. It becomes an abstraction when it falls into the clutches of people pursuing a place on a list of who is richest, rather than being spent constantly to provide for human want or need.
A healthy economy is money in motion. It benefits people when it’s moving, when it’s working, whether it’s funding research or buying hamburgers. Society thrives when the money circulates.

And even if a UBI recipient doesn’t earn an extra dime, the money still circulates.

The people who should not run anything, run everything, and criminally reward themselves winning their races to the bottom.
Any time corporate executives are in a room together and don't know they're being recorded, the transcript is like: "Christ, I hate our customers. We're agreed that we all hate our customers? Let's lie to the IRS, criminally. Did I mention the Holocaust never happened? Put more lead in our soda."

They misidentified the intern. The judge told them they had misidentified the intern. But instead of double checking, they took that as an affront to their authority. So they surrounded the judge's car and threatened to smash the windows to get to the intern.

They had misidentified the intern.
The part where they threatened to break a judge’s car windows should be a bigger story … they feel comfortable treating judges this way, which means they are being told that they can do literally anything to nearly everyone

I have sort of fixated on the idea that JD Vance is just a revamped Dan Quail. I think their lives are going to have weird parallels in the decades to come, starting with feeling like they are still alive, but not being entirely sure.
