It’s legal for me to do my job, and legal for you to enjoy the work I create. But the government is proposing banning the only tool that makes it possible for me to accomplish it.
The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.

Til he posted I’d forgotten about that Cnut too.
Cnut. He's forgotten about Cnut, who went on pilgrimage to Rome in 1027. Oh, and Edward I, who spent 2 months at the court of Gregory X in 1273. Otherwise, all over the detail, as per.

We're taught that heroes are singular beings who win against tremendous odds because they're special and willing to make hard choices.

But in reality it's empathy that saves us and makes us strong. Empathy leads to solidarity, and solidarity is how we break our chains.
the first person that patriarchy teaches a man to harm is himself.

oppressive violence against others is more palatable if someone has already first been convinced to rip the copper wiring out of their own soul.

Jesus christ. AI coding platform Augment code had to jack up prices because 22.5% of their users were spending 20x of what they paid, and even after raising the prices, they're still running at a loss.

Gonna just say, if it's this easy to protest against the monolith that is Disney. Then there is no excuse for people to be clinging to Harry Potter. Like, if the needle can be moved against Disney, people can make it move against JK Rowling. Stop the flow of money into her accounts,
If you protested Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off the air by canceling Disney+ or some similarly simple action that had clear, direct, effective results, it feels good that you helped get him back, right? The neat part of you can choose another simple action, and keep that awesome feeling going.

Stripe’s tagline is “Make progress”, yet they are reportedly censoring LGBT content.

They want to control what people think/consume, but they can’t even recognise when their (prob gen AI) advert has installed a zip-slider on wrong, making said zip functionally useless.

Let’s not listen to them.

there's an episode of The Simpsons where Marge tries to get a violent cartoon pulled from the airwaves, only to discover that the people backing her aren't going to stop at just the art that *she* doesn't like, and that supporting artistic freedom means accepting discomfort.

It aired in 1990.
