👑 The Inspiration vs The Art 💜

Pauline in the Yellow Dress by Herbert James Gunn & Minthara Baenre with Cat 🌹

(not sure if there's a better word than 'inspiration' since I have only modified some elements, I do love Gunn's love for his subject 🥰)

This. We can break the videos down frame-by-frame, but as long as they show a woman who rejected the authority of a fascist state, fascists will say she deserved it—and so, in their view, does anyone who isn't actively assisting the fascist state in body or, importantly, belief.
they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

Gay marriage has been legal in the United States for over a decade. Stop calling Renee Gold's widow her "partner" like you don't know what the right terminology is. We know what word she used: she is on video calling Renee "my wife." You don't need to equivocate. You wouldn't do it to a straight man

If you're worried about homophobes dismissing Renee's murder if you use the word "wife", why? You're not going to persuade them and they'll find out anyway.

If you're uncomfortable saying the word "wife" to refer to a woman married to another woman, congratulations: you are the homophobe.

ICE just murdered a woman here in Minneapolis. A legal observer. Shot her multiple times while she drove away as ordered. She was a US citizen.

Absolute, unequivocal, cold-blooded murder by Trump’s gestapo.

Abolish ICE, jail for everyone in charge. This is the lowest bar we accept now.

yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest

the thing is that all the people telling me "the Democrats aren't gonna do anything" are demonstrably right but what have you got? if it's "you, a person, should 'do something'" you're not serious.

these fucking people. they pass laws to make sure every person with a screw loose who wants an Armalite can show up to the day care armed & ready to kill, then complain that the day cares are locked to protect the children inside
CNN: “Surely you don’t think a daycare should be unlocked.”

SHIRLEY: “There should be a reception area.”

CNN: “No, every day care is locked.”

SHIRLEY: “Fair point.” 🤔

He shows up to a day care with masked men and wonders why they don’t let him in.

something very important for Dems to realize is that the tech overlords are not people you can win back by promising a lighter touch and saying a few nice things

they’ve gotten a taste of mask-off fascism and they are not going back, they don’t want to play nice with the peons anymore
There’s a funny Politico story showing that the latest polling on AI shows 80-20 in favor of heavy regulations, an absolute slam dunk platform, but Dems are worried about not winning back mask-off tech CEO donors

25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

Good on Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands. I’m sure they won’t be the last to announce a boycott.
