The public library is an essential component of a 21st-century left political project as an example of both what is already available to us and what can be improved upon in the future. The library is a public good, and it is free as a public service.

I want more people to make the connections.

It is immensely frustrating that there are so many good people of genuine faith in this country who recognize the evil in front of them but do not get credit for being religious people because they’re not screaming about abortion.

"Luchs speaks five languages: English, French, Italian, and some German and Russian. She approached grasping Gen Z parlance like she was learning another language.

...An Instagram commenter wrote: 'She’s so natural with it too like it’s not even cringe.'"
Alison Luchs, who has worked at the National Gallery of Art for 47 years, agreed to learn Gen Z slang and make videos because she wanted to raise interest in the museum’s art.

She never expected to slay. https://wapo.st/45BXc3S

During the Soviet era, at times of govt instability, the state broadcaster would typically preempt scheduled broadcasts by airing performances of Swan Lake
And, tonight, the network's flagship news program -- 60 Minutes -- ran a clip show of old celeb interviews to "celebrate the movies" rather than put together an episode focused on what's going on in Minnesota.
The person who publishes the Free Press — where the words “Minneapolis” and “Minnesota” never appear tonight — also runs CBS News.

Every year at work we round up our top five reads of the year and every year — without fail — I read a book immediately afterwards that would’ve made my top five. This is a skeet about Heart the Love by Lily King.

I hope the centrists learned a hard lesson last night. No more reaching across the aisle to people who have been spitting in our faces for decades. Run young people, run socialists, run on actionable ideas that seek to make our lives better.

The fight is to save health care for 15 million Americans.

The fight is to lower your insurance costs.

The fight is to say: Congressional Republicans cannot take affordable health care away so they can give tax breaks to a handful of billionaires.

The US used to have free to low tuition until schools couldn't discriminate based on race
Countries with free tuition: Germany, France, Denmark, Czech Rep, Sweden, Uruguay, Turkey, Taiwan, Iceland, Austria, Finland, Greece, Egypt, India, Norway, Brazil, Argentina, Kenya, Luxemb., Slovenia, Mexico.

Something about the next generation being the future of the country, I guess.
I was a first-gen, working-class Black student who took on student loans to get here.

This GOP budget would've slammed that door shut on me—and now it will for future generations.

We should be expanding access to college, not widening the achievement and racial wealth gap.
