Feb. 1, 1960, 4 NC A&T students sat-in at the “whites only” counter at Woolworths in Greensboro. Their defiance ignited a movement led to the birth of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.

Young people fuel movements. It is inspiring to see that today they still do.

Darren Aronofsky, who actively stole visually striking moments and ideas from Satoshi Kon's movies several times and went out of his way to deny it, is now using AI, a tool that steals from other artists? Wow who could've seen that coming. 🙄

I've got a feeling it's going to be getting a lot worse, especially for queer and BIPOC creators, too. Alarms were sounded on the financial impact on authors in 2022.
One.

I have one school visit scheduled for the 2025-26 school year.

Before the book banning movement and the politics of hate metastasized, I visited 40, 50, and 60 schools each year.

This regime of monstrous evildoers is actively trying to erase LGBTQ+ stories, identities, and humans.

One of my most cherished classes is my 18th century novels course where the primary learning objective is "learn how read long novels." We did a "couch to 5k" approach to attention span and note-taking.
My hot take about the “students cannot read whole novels / watch whole films / etc.” is that they can learn to do it. None of us are born with attention spans suited for long media. It is a learned skill and can be developed with practice.

Can confirm. Nothing has changed on the ground. ICE still attacking people, kidnapping, all that stuff—and the city is still out protecting and helping neighbors
Absolutely surreal to continue to hear about drawdowns and lowered temperatures and things calming down in Minneapolis when, as far as I can tell, literally nothing has changed on the ground

I sincerely hope NH library workers have found a way to avoid keeping records altogether because you can't share what doesn't exist and children deserve privacy and safe access to information just as much as any adult does.

New law to make New Hampshire library records available to parents • New Hampshire Bulletin
Borrowing records at public libraries have long been confidential under New Hampshire state law, even for the parents of a child borrower. A new law changes that.

This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.
This just in: "Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards," Lemon's attorney Abbe Lowell says.
