This is right up there with "I don't use pronouns"
Just saw a meme on Facebook that was supposed to prove gender essentialism but it started with, "NON-BINARY IS A MADE UP WORD"

like, bruh

all words are made up

(also at first this autocorrected to gender existentialism which honestly tracks better bc gender is absurd)

i think it’s not that “choosing a server” is confusing to non-technical folks — it’s more that it does not have the same kind of consequences as on mastodon.

on mastodon, choosing a server is like choosing where to build a house. on bluesky, choosing a server is like choosing an internet provider.
Yeah, so this is one of the things where Bluesky decided that the Mastodon approach of having people pick a server before they sign up doesn't really work for most non-technical people… a large % of people just decide they don't have time for this and give up.

I try not to think about it because it bums me out so hard. That app is where my career really began. Met so many great readers and friends through there.

And now it's discount 4chan.
I cannot over-emphasize the colossal loser energy of taking a platform where once the biggest stars in the history of popular culture voluntarily posted original content every day because they enjoyed it into a pyramid scheme where the worst dipshits on earth pay to be fake friends with each other.

This is the economic equivalent of Trump claiming he could get away with shooting someone on Fifth Avenue.
Trump in Michigan: "I used to hate to pay overtime. When I was in the private sector -- I shouldn't tell you this. I'd go out and get other people and let them work regular time. It's terrible. I shouldn-- I'd say, 'Get me 10 other guys, I don't want to have time and a half.'"

I say this with love and as a professor of art history: the report on this study is junk. It’s not measuring a response to “real art” vs “reprints”; it’s measuring “seeing art in a museum” vs “seeing it on googles while in an MRI machine.” www.theguardian.com/science/2024...
Real art in museums stimulates brain much more than reprints, study finds
Scientists in Netherlands using eye-tracking and MRI scans found ‘enormous difference’ between genuine works and posters

Hughes dropped his magnum opus this year, promoted by a friendly NYT profile, and it didn't sell. Arguing for a "colorblind America" after SCOTUS tossed affirmative action - very skippable book that missed the moment.

TNC can command the discourse. Hughes doesn't have the skill.
I'm sorry, but "we paid Coleman Hughes to take on Ta-Nehisi Coates" should get your entire website and everyone associated with it shunned from society by force
The Fantasy World of Ta-Nehisi Coates
His new book, ‘The Message,’ is a masterpiece of warped arguments and moral confusion.

what's frustrating about newsom vetoing progressive legislation in California is that he always claims it's because the California Constitution's insane tax/revenue restrictions mean the legislation will cause unfixable state budgetary problems and it's actually true like exactly 50% of the time.

In Dokoupil’s FIRST question to Coates he says that “this book wouldn’t be out of place in the backpack of an extremist.” His FIRST question.

Gayle King just looks at her notes most of the time, like she’s in her office and not on-camera.

I had to close my laptop immediately.
I’m sorry but I just watched the CBS mornings interview of Ta-Nehisi Coates (largely) by Tony Dokoupil and Tony Dokoupil should be suspended. Those questions were beyond the pale. Also he should have probably disclosed his children live in Israel with his ex-wife and how that informs his perspective

Here's the fact about our current immigration law that made me appreciate just HOW screwed up it is:

Children as young as 3 or 4 can have to show up for deportation hearings alone and without an attorney. And the people in the system think that's normal.

The entrance of Tyler Perry's White House is all wrong. There's high stairs on either side and bulletproof glass casing on the door. Otherwise, pretty, pretty good.
Just wait til you get to the White House* scenes.
