Ok, I've promised to tell this story before & never gotten round to it. So strap in & let me tell you about my favorite Scottish party game: Axe, Axe, Who's Got the Axe. Thread!!! 1/
I've done a lot of security gigs, including the one in Scotland when I was a grad student & we got to play Axe Axe Who's Got the Axe, & I have consistently taught my martial arts students you do NOT one to go to ground unless you have no choice. 4/

Here’s an NPR explainer from Oct on the Post Office’s proposed changes to its definition of postmarks. *These changes went into effect on Dec. 24.* So, if you want to prove that you mailed a ballot (or sent a check) in by a certain date, it needs to be hand-stamped by a clerk. tinyurl.com/3bdu28ne
Your ballot or other mail may not get postmarked by USPS the day it's dropped off
Close to a deadline for mailing your ballot, tax return or legal document? To make sure it gets a postmark on time under the latest USPS changes, you may want to send it early or visit a post office.

This is one part of what it looks like when the government has been taken over by a fascist movement that's trying to push out its reactionary vision of national rebirth—women & racial minorities purged from positions of authority & re-subordinated, etc—through all cultural & professional spaces
Because it’s not just Bari Weiss’ CBS asking this question—in the last few months, I’ve been approached by half a dozen different shows looking to ‘debate’ the same topic.

I even got a request from NPR-distributed “Open to Debate” to see if I’d weigh in on “Has Feminism Hurt Women?”

The unseemly angle of this story that is apparently lost on some folks is the ultra wealthy cannibalizing the rest of us. If you are unfazed, good for you I guess.

DOJ broke the law today by refusing to produce all the Epstein files. It also broke the law by redacting information other than to protect victims. Yet, the corporate media is acting that DOJ did us a huge favor.

Now, more than ever, help build independent, pro-democracy media. hubs.ly/Q03CbHTt0

Just a reminder that ICE didn't exist until 2002. It's not some longstanding institution that must be maintained. It was created as a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11, and it could be gotten rid of as easily as it was created.

I think about this, also in terms of vaccines, and really struggle with how you have a free society that doesn’t fall into this trap in one way or another. solved problems become invisible and the solutions become the source of conspiracy theories.
This seems logical but Dems solved* the whole problem of old-age health care costs in the mid-1960s and then they lost five of the next six presidential elections because by 1968 it was a solved problem and no one cared about it.

*Yes oversimplifying here and the rest of course.
i will amend my earlier tweet. whichever party solves the prices of housing *and child care* will rule america for a generation

The science books even include a children’s section with fun activites and coloring books!

The risk from weather hazards and numbers killed are orders of magnitudes greater than the risk from commercial airline accidents. Why don't we as a society take the former as seriously as the latter? What the release of new safety plans by Camp Mystic says about needed change.

I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.

So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”
