A bit of a departure but... Fraggle Rock was shot at CBC Toronto with mainly Canadian puppeteers, musicians and if it was a song, would be considered Canadian Content by the CRTC. It's also 43yrs old today. Dance your cares away! #musicsky #Canada #NoNews

"The machinery of our state was built to protect and defend institutions of power."

Truer word were never written.
"Consequence-free physical and sexual abuse of children was part of the deal the institutional Church offered the Irish state for to run schools, hospitals and other expensive-looking services.

This week the Taoiseach demonstrated the same mental habits."

Charming. But nothing will ever capture the depiction of nuclear annhilation for a children’s audience better than the gentle and treacherous horror that is ‘When the Wind Blows’ – first a comic by Raymond Briggs, and then a film.

"it's not the app, it's the people using the app" is very "guns don't kill people, it's people using the guns who kill people".

'The app' is producing thousands of explicit images every hour. O'Donovan is not bothered by his obligations to enforce the existing laws regarding child porn production.
Patrick O’Donovan’s statement here is farcically wrong, grimly idiotic and would be laughable if this were a situation which was capable of ever being a laughing matter.

It should be quoted, cited or just played at him every time he opens his mouth on any matter, for the rest of his career.

Kinda weird. The one time Patrick O’Donovan could justifiably swing the Ban Hammer, he’s bottled it.

He previously said he put protecting children ahead of human rights

It’s as if protecting children is only used as an excuse for surveillance

Or maybe he’s put “Companies Making Money” above both?

The Minister is badly advised.
This minister seems to believe that the State has no responsibility with regards to preventing a company, based here in Ireland, from providing the tools by which child sexual abuse material has been generated by its own paid subscribers. A truly bizarre thing to say.

X not responsible for child sexual abuse images, individual users are - Media Minister
The minister argued that technology is moving too fast for laws to keep pace.

Launching next month from a new venture funded by Palmer Luckey and Mark Zuckerberg, Wormtongue, your new agentic AI adviser. It joins a prestigious group of companies led by Palantir which are also named after things from LOTR and that are definitely good and desirable ideas to emulate.
I now firmly believe Trump’s handlers are constantly showing him AI slop content - created to support those handlers own individual, often-clashing agendas.

GenAI companies have created Grima Wormtongue as a service.

ICE has recently bought the capability of monitoring the location histories of entire neighborhoods worth of phones. The data is likely harvested from apps that sell your data, which filters up through data brokers and eventually to companies that sell to ICE:

“The Child Sex Abuse Material Machine might have some good uses too” is a lamentable policy position.
My word.

The Taoiseach, in China, says "platforms can be misused and abused or they can be used for positive reasons as well..." and says that should be considered carefully "before jumping to conclusions" on whether it's appropriate for the Government to be on X.
