This is 100% the correct (and obvious) move by Dems and they need to do it Every. Single. Time: counter Republicans strongarming companies/schools by openly and directly saying "we will be in charge in like a year and will absolutely make this cost you."

Democrats warn their party may try to unravel any Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery deal
A new letter from Reps. Sam Liccardo, D-Calif., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., also raised concerns about foreign investors’ involvement.

Something every 2026/28 Dem should commit to is investigations of any company that did deals with Trump. A kind of forward guidance to get companies to think twice in advance of what’s coming.
Fox News will applaud this but can you imagine their coverage if President Biden hatched a secret plan to take over Fox News and revamp its programming to be nicer to him
New WSJ reporting: "During a December visit to Washington, David Ellison offered assurances to Trump administration officials that if he bought Warner, he'd make sweeping changes to CNN, a common target of President Trump's ire, people familiar with the matter said..."

MAGA makes you a simpleton, judge edition.
Among the litany of problems with SCOTUS's decision to stay the Texas map: the majority never acknowledges that "the" partisan impetus to adopt the map as a whole does not in any way preclude the improper use of race as a means to get there.

Which is exactly what the trial court found. In detail.

a few candidates have talked about this but any Dem planning to run in 2028 should make it explicit: the next DOJ will, in fact, go after you if you’re funding this awful ballroom, or any other pay to play deals you make with this administration
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

This sounds reasonable but is 100% wrong. Whether you or agree or disagree with a study is completely immaterial. What matters is whether the study was conducted properly and generates valid results. And it's impolitic to say but it's true: you have to have some level of expertise to judge that.
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."

there is a world in which it would make sense for Dems to cave and help reopen the government, for example, if we just got crushed in VA/NJ and voters were blaming us for the shutdown

we are not in that world. we are in the opposite world. trump is taking all the blame and flailing. jesus christ

This is great. Normally, with U.S. press, when a Republican lies, they go, "well, we'll have to leave it there because I want to move on."

In this case, however, Vance lies and Stephanopoulos is immediately, "into the trebuchet, my dude."
STEPHANOPOULOS: I didn't insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50k as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. You did not answer the question. Thank you for your time.

VANCE: No, George, I sai--

STEPHANOPOULOS: We'll be right back

I know Trump and his minions all have sneering contempt for kids with special needs, but trust me when I say that their parents will absolutely fucking destroy anyone who messes with the special education supports to which they are entitled by law.
There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

Theyre not gearing up for a crackdown. They want to suppress turnout because large protests signal the unpopularity of Trump.

Streisand Signal much?
This sounds like they're gearing up for a violent crackdown. The talking points obviously went out.
Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

A huge issue continues to be that the threat of consequences from Dems isn’t credible. These folks may not have a coherent plan for an 100 year Trump dictatorship, but they think they’ll come out ahead either way.
It's becoming clear that this is not an administration that is popular or skilled enough to do the consolidation needed to implement actual fascism, so they've decided that constantly creating fascism-flavored content is good enough

It'd be one thing if rural voters contented themselves with insatiable rent-seeking and a nauseating culture of victimhood, but they also seem incapable of letting everyone else go about their business. Biden giving them more "abundance" merely emboldened their attacks.

“I feel good about that,” Cuomo said.

Man they can't even set up a properly executed traffic check point a mile from the White House, what are you talking about.
They can do it. It is easier than people think. They already dropping "law enforcement" made of last minute hired people with zero background check using national guard etc. America is way more fragile than majority of American think. He is 80, but his fellows are young.
