Three Yale professors who have written extensively on authoritarianism are leaving the U.S. “We’re like people on the Titanic saying our ship can’t sink,” Marci Shore said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”
Opinion | We Study Fascism at Yale. We’re Leaving the U.S.
The decision by these three Yale professors to move to Canada is both a warning and a call to action.

This is an excellent report - and accurate in the assertions regarding the 13% stat. However...

I understand why they couldn't dive into intersectionality because of resources, I get it - but intersectionality and socio-economic class have relevant and intrinsic links.

🧵
A staggering report about class in the UK games industry - just 13% are "from lower socioeconomic backgrounds", making it "roughly a third less inclusive than the wider country".

This is compared to 29% in film/TV, 32% in design/fashion, and 22% in music.

a lot of modern reaction has been trying to define "racism" as as an extremely narrow category. they claim distaste for other races isn't "racism" if there are too many of them entering your community. believing black people aren't as intelligent isn't "racism" if it's based in half-baked science.
i wonder if george packer realizes he contradicted himself. “racism does not explain trump support, white communities getting nonwhite immigrants and feeling resentful does.”
