Last week, this was PJP's top story.

27 Prison Journalism Project contributors in 17 states describe winter behind bars — and the small dignities that could make it more bearable.

Idk why people here walk around like they've got universal healthcare and paid sick leave. I sure tf can't afford to get sick.
In 2026 let’s normalize masking for public health.

If we could admit that with healthcare being gutted, vaccine access restricted and previously eradicated diseases coming back… having an extra layer like a respirator makes good sense.

Let’s also normalize not mocking people who mask!

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

When I hear this, I think of the people who were in the streets in Ferguson in 2014-2015 for 375 days STRAIGHT while the national guard was called up and people were being brutalized by cops in the streets for WEEKS. Complete amnesia.
“Why aren’t you in the streets” is a slap in the face to all of those people who been in the streets since Occupy

I hate working the weekends for the simple fact that we’re the forgotten ones. Transit is slow and unreliable. Local news, information and updates are tailored for people getting up later if at all. Yet we need to be where we’re supposed to in order to support everyone and everything around us.

Books, poems, film, etc. may require retraining a brain to slow down.

And it's important bc while scrolling social media pushes the happy button, it rarely provides actual happiness. It's like food with no nutrients; your brain ate a lot but it's still starving for things that scrolling can't give.

This is your friendly reminder that most people (regardless of their general political position) do not know, nor do they care about, the differences between leftist, liberal, and progressive.

The next Dem administration may undo some Trump admin policy, but they will likely leave the worst stuff in place. What would give us any reason to believe Dems wouldn’t extend the massively increased ICE or military budget? Or revoke oil drilling permits? Or regulate big tech?

I like that a lot of artsy literature people are mad rn that romance is making money and coping/seething by crying about how it can never demonstrate good craft. Even though nothing stops romance from demonstrating good craft

Look….. I know I’m an adult so it’s different…… but I feel like this year’s Christmas is the least Christmas-y I’ve ever experienced.

Personally, because of all of the horror we’ve had this year. But also commercially, I feel like even companies are phoning it in or not even acknowledging it.
