I like the implication in these pictures that on the other 364 days of the year, the zoo has only the vaguest sense of how many lions it should have

Not even the prompts. If you are a Twitter user in the UK and Twitter sticks a Grok CSAM image in your feed for WHATEVER reason, well congrats your device just downloaded child porn. And you are legally responsible for that.
Even if nobody wants to take action against Musk for building a CSAM generator, there are people using it who are based in the UK and those prompts are absolutely something that would get you on the sex offender's register. Absolutely no justification not to try to identify and prosecute users.

Pretty sure we're now at 'no photos of baby at all on social media' because this very literally makes me want to throw up
Elon Musk chatbot repeatedly making CSAM on demand should be one of the single biggest stories right now and it's effectively a collective shrug instead

It is very very cold, but no snow forecast here. Probably lucky because I'm heading into the city for a nice day of shopping.

The “political leaders are just always unpopular now” idea really does let Starmer’s operation off the hook for its deliberate efforts to alienate their own base.

The upsetting their own voters bit worked like a charm. Whatever else the plan was supposed to deliver…less so.
I mean look at these graphs - 82% of 2024 Green voters disapprove of Starmer, 64% of LDs and 53% of the Labour voters *who explicitly voted for him less than two years ago.* That is not normal. I suspect it may be unprecedented.

Today I have been mostly super tired and grumpy, plus the cat was unexpectedly sick everywhere (on the new hard floor as opposed to the new carpet, at least). Tomorrow will hopefully be more productive and less eventful.

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

I have had a fairly frustrating afternoon trying to construct a changing table, culminating in losing a crucial screw, and I would just like to register my hatred of allen keys.

This is an extremely good thread
I think we need a mega thread of everyone's craziest archive stories.

I did like 80% of assembling an IKEA daybed but it's facing the wrong way and I need my husband to help me turn it around. Currently fighting the urge to just disassemble it and rotate it myself.

this is one very personal reason I read and write romance, to explore what a joyful and curious approach to sexuality can look like.
one of the things being a romance reader has taught me is that purity culture (all sex is bad) and porn culture (all sex is salacious/emotionally hollow) are just two sides of the same coin, and it's really not worth fighting with either group of people.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!
TOMORROW IS THE WINTER SOLSTICE AND Y'ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. It is time for the women (defined broadly) to hunt the Year King through the woods and tear him apart with their bare hands!

I need to make some kind of lunch but all I want to eat is food that I'm not meant to eat due to pregnancy. Soft cheese and smoked salmon, how I miss you.

V sensible for Labour to focus their entire policy strategy on the 8% of voters they’re losing to the right and permanently alienate the 29% they’re losing to the centre/left.
Labour does so badly in this poll mainly because, as the tables show, they lose 29% of their 2024 vote to the Lib Dems and Greens.

Only 8% goes to Reform, just ahead of the 6% to the Cons. Those Lab–Con switchers push the Tories over 20%, despite them losing a quarter of their 2024 vote to Reform.
Westminster Voting Intention:

RFM: 27% (+12)
CON: 21% (-3)
LAB: 18% (-17)
LDM: 15% (+3)
GRN: 13% (+6)

When did we decide that leaving a parcel in someone's bin counted as delivered, and how do we make it stop?

(I know the answer is that delivery drivers are wildly over busy and it's not their fault but I HATE it)

In an effort at something good on the internet today: A thread on Mr KJC, gingerbread architect of the early 21st century.

Mr KJC got his beginnings like so many gingerbread architects: with a kit house for the kids. Kind of fun but the premade pieces are dry and nasty, only technically edible.
