Unsurprisingly, rising projections of power demand in the US are resulting in plans to keep coal-fired power stations open longer, and US states are fighting EPA power pollution rules on the grounds fossil fuel is "needed" to power AI.

A chart showing the old production in blue from last year for the outlook of retired coal capacity, which is higher than the outlook for this year, which shows a cumulative amount of retired coal being lower in the future which translates to more coal power being available. A caveat here is that even if a coal plant is operational, it may not actually generate, and it may end up being useless. But I think. it's inarguable that more available coal power is not a good thing, and the net effect will likely be higher emissions than if it were retired.

Beloved Father
I always hated my father. He was beyond abusive. He would frequently beat my mother to within an inch of her life. He beat us too... That's why, when he died suddenly of a heart attach, it felt like a blessing. But then he came back. When he arrived at our door, we were shocked. Less by the fact that he was a zombie, but more that on his face he wore an expression of kindness and serenity. This was not the man we buried. This was not my father. It didn't matter to my mother. She Finally had the husband she had always wanted. It didn't matter to my brother. He finally had a male role model. But I could not enjoy his posthumous turn to grace because I knew it wasn't him. I searched for a while for an explanation as to what happened to him. Until one day, my friend Rachel came at me with a single word "Dybbuk." We went to her rabbi and he advised me "well, usually a dybbuk will attach itself to a host body and make that body behave in a way that torments its loved ones until it has accomplished some goal. From what you've told me, about your father, it sounds like the dybbuk got confused." I asked "it has a goal? What does it want?" The rabbi said "Have your tried asking?" I asked my father "dad? what do you want?" Dad said "sweetie, the only thing I want is to make you happy." Through streaming tears, I said "the only thing that would make me happy is for you to GO!!" Dad, smiling and crying says "ok sweetie, I will. I love you." The dybbuk exited my father's body. I sat by my father's grave, his body freshly interred in it. My mom and my brother still haven't forgiven me.
