At some point the law needs to actually be enforced.

Defund the police was terrible slogan because defunding the police was a terrible idea, the solution was destroying qualified immunity and police unions not reducing spending on public safety.
Abolish ICE is a good slogan because abolishing ICE is a good idea. ICE is improving no one's safety.

It’s legitimately a massive scandal that they’re giving people guns with a fucking month and a half of training before putting them on the street. Big city beat cop training is like six months!
it is both true that more training won’t fix the agency’s problems and also true that 47 days of training - picked corruptly and arbitrarily - is a scandal on it’s own that people should know about (i didn’t know this)

The biggest mistake dems AND activists made following the death of george floyd was not making the central demand to bust the police unions.
The elephant in the room is that mayors and governors across the country have very good reason to question the loyalty and allegiances of the state and local police forces and that’s one of the impediments to doing anything about the current occupations
