It’s wild to me that The Pitt is being called a procedural (and then walked back by the end of the article). Not all medical shows = procedurals, the episodes in this aren’t self-contained. Its serialized! But also a medical show! variety.com/2025/tv/awar...

Why HBO/Max's procedural drama "The Pitt" and Noah Wyle deserve Emmy nominations.

In spite of its owner, I must say the LA Times is meeting the moment with wall-to-wall coverage of ICE kidnappings and so many stories about how immigrants are the backbone of everything great about LA. Its staff has a much clearer view of the city than the New York Times does of NYC.

this is why catholics often make natural baseball heads tbh
ok look obviously the papacy and the catholic church are, like, not good, but it's just fun to think about the one institution we have that has millennia of continuity. there's nothing else where you get factoids like "he's the seventh guy from his order to become pope, but the first in 840 years"

“american food is uniformly lower quality than food in europe” is something said by someone who a) hasn’t eaten crappy food in Europe and b) seems unaware that the US sends billions in agricultural exports to europe!

To call Francis “the peoples pope“ implies that the Catholic Church knows that previous popes weren’t that into people

Can we permanently put to rest the myth that a businessman knows more how to manage the economy? Or do we have to wait for our economy’s collapse for some among us to grasp it?

as others have noted there's a connection between these deaths and right wing "Antifa" paranoia. musk designed and advertised this thing as apocalypse proof which in his smooth brain meant "able to protect riders from dangerous hordes of poor rioters". this also makes rescuing passengers impossible
What an absolute nightmare. A high school student saw his friends crash their Cybertruck and rushed to help, but was only able to rescue one of them because the car's doors would not open from the outside.

He watched his three other friends burn to death.
