Update from superintendent:

"MPRB will fully adhere to and follow Mayor Frey’s Executive Order 2025-02 dealing with Immigration and Customer Enforcement (ICE) presence in our city and prohibit any MPRB parking lot from being used to stage civil immigration enforcement operations."
I've had a lot of people reach out about the presence of ICE on park board property. Unfortunately, they are legally allowed to be on our land because it is completely public. This is a gross abuse of the sanctity of our parks and can't be tolerated.

We will do all we can to keep these spaces safe.

I witnessed @amberforparks.bsky.social dancing at this week’s George Floyd Square community meeting (it was appropriate! Brass Solidarity was playing!) & I’m prepared to say she was so fabulous that her wedding will be amazing no matter how much she has left to pay for it.
The funniest thing you'll ever learn in a campaign finance report is that Minneapolis park board candidate Amber Frederick's top supporter is the wedding fund of Amber Frederick.

Thank you to everyone working hard to defend our immigrant neighbors. We’re living through some scary times, but the community is coming together to organize, defend, and protect.

We need you all for the long haul, so please make sure to take care of yourself. We see you and appreciate you. 1/

I was absolutely horrified when Zaynab said no GOP members took up her invitation to come stand with her in support of her and our other Somali neighbors. She has to work with those people every fucking day and not a GODDAMN one of them had the balls to go stand with her.

May Day Cafe is reducing hours for a second time. They were open until 6pm before converting to co-op and now just 1:30pm (!) — not even through the lunch hours.

Having trouble resisting a rant about Minneapolis business operating hours.

I am so proud and lucky to get to organize with such wonderful people in the Somali Caucus and Somali DFL’ers all around the state. @stonewalldfl.bsky.social will always have their backs as long as I am Chair.

If you’re a DFL unit, make sure you’re calling out that you’ll continue to stand with them and support the work they are doing to bring Somali people into the party. Make sure to recognize their Chair, Qays, and all of the work he does.

How did that work out for the county when they last tried it?

I get that folks in these positions should be paid well, but also this is a 25% increase when nearly everyone I know is just getting a Cost of Living increase next year.

Come on.
I want everyone to flip out over this proposal to give the mayor a $46,000 raise. I completely agree that our elected officials should be well paid. But people tear their hair out over council pay, so we need to bring that same energy to this one.

I believe we should pay all public servants well, but I don’t believe that the mayor of Minneapolis should make more than the MN Governor. (The gov is vastly underpaid and is paid less than me, his employee.)

That’s a 25% raise. Who gets 25% raises? He wants to massively raise his property taxes. This is bullshit.

why are we giving our useless ass mayor a pay raise when that money could go to making sure our houseless neighbors are safe
