Of all the examples of people dying because somebody inexperienced was in charge, the biggest, most horrifying was Elon Musk and DOGE. No idea what AID did, didn’t care, blew it up and at least 600,000 people died unnecessarily as a consequence. Mass murder out of ignorance and bias. Thanks, Elon.
the very last person who should be prattling on about the dangers of inexperience is the grifting troglodyte who killed millions when he was put in charge of “efficiency”

Once again, the whiplash I’m getting from finishing a book about the 1960s Civil Rights Division *fighting* discriminatory measures designed to suppress the vote and then reading its current leader defending those same kinds of measures today.

Kennedy Center vows to sue musician who canceled performance over Trump name change
The Kennedy Center is planning legal action after jazz musician Chuck Redd canceled an annual holiday concert. Redd pulled out after President Trump's name appeared on the building.

October-7th and what followed have radicalized me very hard against ethnonationalism. Just legions of people on every side who should and absolutely do know better saying “ok but [attrocity] is good when it’s us tho” and being taken seriously for some reason. Fuck your blood and fuck your soil.
I read Just and Unjust Wars and it’s so funny how much of his stuff post-October 7 is him saying things he said were wrong in his book are okay when Israel does it

Yes, yes, musicians are famously apolitical and none of them have ever refused to perform for a particular audience or at a particular venue for political reasons, yes, yes.

they didnt just lie about the election, they were caught saying they were gonna spread lies bc its what their viewers wanted to hear and it would be good for ratings

insane that anyone with any self respect wouldnt turn on them after that
Remember when Fox News settled a defamation suit for $800m because it lied about the 2020 election and then all the Fox News watchers kept watching it?

All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.
Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”

Guys no billionaire is "leaving California," they're at best gonna leave California for exactly 185 days a year and domicile at some mansion resort in Utah or Montana or USVI but still be in California a lot (but also this will be too big of a hassle for many and they'll just pay the tax)
