We clearly haven’t hit bottom as a country if this fuckin moron is a leader in the FBI.
WALKINSHAW: Are you familiar with the Proud Boys?

GLASHEEN: I'm familiar with the name

WALKINSHAW: Does the FBI still designate them as an extremist organization? They did during Trump's first term

GLASHEEN: We are in the process right now of changing our, uh, categories for domestic terrorism

Also the, um, "we should do something about it" part is seriously crazy.
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

It is absolutely wild that the guy who won’t stop yelling about law and order is now personally stepping in to keep January 6 documents hidden from the police officers who were attacked that day. He knows exactly what’s in those files and he is terrified the country will see it.

What Senator Cotton says here would be a bad defense for the Germans convicted in WWI and WWII war crimes trials -- including for firing on shipwrecked in fully operational lifeboats.

This line of response hurts the US and US servicemembers. It will cause long-term damage unless we get this right.
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

The lesson the whole world is drawing is "if you are fighting the US military, never surrender, because it is a fight to the death."

That's a very very bad message we just sent.

“I definitely blew up a boat filled with guys who were not enemy combatants and then I went back and killed the survivors who posed no threat”
A top admiral is expected to tell lawmakers tomorrow that he and his legal adviser concluded that the two survivors of a boat strike in September were attempting to continue their drug run, making them and the damaged vessel legitimate targets for another attack.

America does not have capital punishment for selling or smuggling drugs and none of these people were arrested or tried. There could have been mountains of cocaine in open view on the deck of the boats and it still would have been murder of unarmed civilians.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

Striking a boat full of unarmed civilians is murder. The first strike was murder. The followup strike was also murder.

We're not at war. It's not a "war crime". Everyone involved, including the POTUS, SecDef, the Admiral who relayed it and the person who pressed the button needs to be on trial.

Drugs are not weapons.

Drug traffickers are not terrorists.

The US wasn't attacked.

Boats on open water far from US coasts aren't a security threat.

There is absolutely no argument for self-defense in Caribbean boat strikes, nor in possible war with Venezuela.

This campaign is lies upon lies.
This is fundamentally the wrong way to deal with drug problems.

The campaign is built on lies.
The White House's lies about the illegal Caribbean boat strikes are so obvious and about such serious matters that they're floundering.

As @gregsargent.bsky.social and @jenrubin.bsky.social explain, specific strikes are criminal, but even more so, the entire campaign is blatantly illegal and wrong.

On the horrific news that Pete Hegseth ordered the killing of boat bombing survivors, remember: The Trump Murder Memo "authorizing" the strikes preemptively clears those carrying them out. That's unusual. And we still haven't heard from the commander who resigned:
