It is absolutely, incontestably true that a Great Power war would be an unmitigated disaster for every participating country, including the victors, that would be completely ineffectual in achieving any sort of geopolitical goals. Unfortunately, this has probably been true since at least 1900.
Because everyone’s economy would zero out before anything on the scale of previous world wars took place. I don’t rule out a small scale military exchange between the US and other powers but that’s completely different from WW I/II. It’s a category error.
