Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says people should move beyond calling AI 'slop'

"We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication and develop a new equilibrium ... that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other"

Great thread. Ban AI from classrooms.
Thanks for sharing this document, @rweingarten.bsky.social.

I read it, and I believe it's inexcusably inadequate and will not prepare teachers or schools to confront the very real dangers of the "A.i." products pushed by your partners, including OpenAI.

A few thoughts for your consideration...

Wow! Not only can we see the disks where planets are being born around young stars, now we can sense the pull of the worlds taking shape within.

Blue ovals show orbits of 31 newfound stellar companions. Bottom right: a simulation of our solar system at the same age. 🔭🧪

This cluster harbours the first small black hole outside of our galaxy to be discovered by looking at its gravitational influence on the path of the star orbiting it

”I am not very creative and this allows me to be.”

What? No it doesn’t. It actively prohibits you from being creative. It is the opposite of being creative. It’s literally a bunch of nothing. You’re better off creating your own “bad” art versus a bunch of uninspired garbage.

Major victory for writers here:
Some rare good news: Journalists at the PEN Guild won their arbitration case against Politico, which deployed two separate faulty AI products (a "report builder" and a headline and summary generator on the homepage) without their knowledge or input.

That violated their contract, the arbiter found.
Journalists win a key battle over AI in the newsroom
PLUS: Artists fight for an AI transparency law in the belly of the beast, a Spotify mass deletion event, and an interview with a top video games journalist about AI and labor.
