It’s a fantasy detective story featuring a former pirate turned novice detective in a romp through an industrializing magic city. Hope you enjoy!

It’s also counterproductive— it’s not always easy to tell the difference between AI generated scammer products and actual cool indie books, but if I see an AI cover, I’m probably not reading it.
Self-published authors are unfortunately very rapidly becoming my most-blocked demographic on here due entirely to the rampant use of hideous AI generated book covers
Just in case it wasn't clear: If I click on your profile and see that you've used AI to make something, you get blocked.

One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.

Be a housing fan.

This is a fucking nightmare and right now I am very, very angry with the people who put Trump back in office.

More and more kids are going to die from preventable diseases.

As I have said for months, RFK Jr. has more power to singlehandedly kill more Americans than any other cabinet secretary.

It doesn’t matter if people “truly” believe anything or not. Playing make-believe, publicly participating in a bit like an improv sketch, is just as good as any “sincerely held” belief for all purposes of the function of collective belief in society (though this also shapes people’s private beliefs)

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

Show what measles looks like.

You know what's interesting though, stories about GLP-1's really don't focus in on the fact that it's an injection.

Yes, I know it's an auto injector but it's still a shot.

Showing me a needle shot on a story about a measles outbreak gets me to associate vaccination with disease... which is wrong.

I'm about 500 times more concerned with my own elderly parents being victimized by an identity theft or pig butchering scam than I am about them being mugged or burglarized and I think that's similar for most voters bsky.app/profile/todm...
I think the scams at issue are phone and email scams, phishing, identity theft etc. Most people I know are actually quite familiar with those, worry about them and wish government would do more to stop them. A promise to do something about that sort of scam might resonate with voters.

Problem is, if they did that, they would have to become anti-capitalist, because capitalism at the end of the day is one huge scam. Owners steal the surplus value produced by workers and enrich themselves, which then is used to reshape society through laws, regulations, advertising and PR.

Even a decade ago I'd have far sooner predicted that the US would succumb to authoritarian rule than that it would become a state where vaccines were unavailable.

But if we don't throw RFK Jr. out on his ass, we're headed there fast.
RFK Jr. is overhauling the program that helps preserve Americans' access to vaccines
A Kennedy adviser said he wants to preserve the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. The health secretary's anti-vaccine allies prefer it collapse.

This RT is an endorsement
We *really* need to actively differentiate Machine Learning from GenAI. GenAI is riding the Machine Learning coattails and risks destroying an incredibly useful innovation by conflating it with absolute slop that codes decently.
We could save soooo many lives but people are so caught up in their reactionary moral panic nonsense

there's a story that squares these, which is that AI lets individual employees lever up in a way that makes them super productive but also super difficult to substitute for, so you need them working all the time and if they ever leave you're screwed.

CEOs do not love that story
I’d love tech CEOs to stick to a lane. Either AI makes workers so much more productive that they need to do layoffs or there’s so few workers in place that everyone needs to work nights and weekends.

Now it just seems layoffs are happening for economic reasons with AI as a convenient cover story.
